Love these pens - the fine nib is a please to write with
I've used many fountain pens over the years, including some all metal ones that were more expensive, but now I've discovered Lamy pens I will never go back. I now have 3, all write beautifully, feel great in the hand and make me want to reach for these first before any gel pen or biro. The ergonomics of the grip ensure that the ink flows perfectly onto the paper, either using Lamy cartridges or the cartridge adapters for bottled ink.The look of this combination of colours is also pleasing to the eye.

Perfect
Recommended to me via a YouTube channel I was watching. This has reminded me just how much of a pain fountain pens are to get the ink flowing initially. Takes me back to school days. But once it’s flowing by twisting the converter I bought for it, it’s a great write. It looks great also. Very comfortable. It comes in various sized bins too from fine to bold so pay attention to the title to ensure it’s of the thickness you want. Recommended. Great value for money.

Makes me want to write
Got this pen because I love the design and wanted something nice for journaling. The ink that comes with it is meh, i would’ve preferred black. But it dries fast, doesn’t smudge. Cant really complain about that. It’s really nice to write with and it’s the first pen that has made me want to keep writing more and more. I never thought a pen could do that. It’s just something about the way it flows as you write. The ink window is useful and fun. I wish it wasn’t as plasticky and the parting line (seen in the third pic) takes away from the design. But for the price I can look past it.

Great Pen
Ordered this pen for sketching. It arrived on time and as described. I fitted a refillable cartridge and filled it with waterproof ink. The pen is a dream. Ink flows well and the lines are perfect for sketching. I have seen other reviews of this pen for sketching and can say that I agree - just works well.

Lives up to its reputation
The LAMY safari was created to be a cheap robust pen for young students learning to write with fountain pens. What LAMY ended up with is a fine writing instrument at an accessible price that has made it a bit of a cult hit with fountain pen enthusiasts. I can see why, I like this pen a lot after just a little doodling with it.Yes, its plastic, but the finish and fit is solid. The light weight means less fatigue for extended writing, unless you particularly like heavier pens for that 'substantial' feel. Pen design is clean and functional, the packaging simple, keeping with its unpretentious aims of being an everyday pen. The nib is remarkable, it is well polished to make it easy and forgivable, ideal for everyday writing without the fuss or someone just beginning to learn penmanship. Mine writes dry (doesn't leave wet trails of ink) and smoothly for a fine nib. The line thickness is not the thinnest but quite typical (there are no standards by the way). The ink cartridge is unfortunately LAMY proprietary, it comes with a blue ink cartridge to get you started. You can easily get a converter so you can use bottled ink. Well pleased with this purchase.Update Sept 2012:Less than a year later and I have given in to buying a second LAMY Safari, in part so that I can have both black and blue inks, but mostly because I have grown quite fond of the trusty writing instrument with its understated good looking design. I opted for the glossy black finish but otherwise got the exact same pen and nib size. What really surprised me was the nib on my second pen was even smoother than my first. I have no doubt that my first purchase had a very good nib at a great price and I understand that with fountain pens there will always be subtle variations to each nib, but I think I got lucky with the second one that is outstanding. Upgraded rating with one more star, hats off to LAMY.

Stylish, comfortable - a great writing experience!
As an Open University Classical Studies student I can often hand write many pages of notes in a single day. Whilst I’ve tried typing notes directly into my MacBook, I’ve found that I can retain much more if I hand write my study notes, so of course it is very important to use a comfortable writing implement.About 3 years ago I decided to try a fountain pen in the hope of it alleviating the pain that I have in my arm, wrist and hand when I’m writing for a long while. After much research I purchased a LAMY, and have certainly had no cause to regret this decision. I find that the ink flows very well through the nib, which means I apply less pressure to the page, so the writing experience is far more comfortable. In addition to this more comfortable writing experience, I also find the LAMY to be quite a stylish fountain pen, the striking colour and design seem to convey a modern perspective on this more traditional writing apparatus. There are a range of different inks available for the LAMY, which includes erasable (very useful when note taking), and also non-erasable. I usually buy both, and use non-erasable in exams, where my LAMY pen has proved invaluable in terms of increasing the comfort of this already fraught writing experience.I would make only one improvement to my fountain pen, and this is to include a softer grip, as LAMY do with some of their other products.Overall though, I think the LAMY fountain pens are stylish, well made, and very comfortable to use. I would certainly recommend them.

Comfortable and lovely to use
Great colour, and with a lovely grip. This pen is really nice to use. Although, I did swap to an extra fine nib as the medium was too bold for me.

First Fountain Pen: Smooth and Stylish Fountain Pen
The Lamy Safari Fountain Pen is a smooth-writing and stylish pen that elevates my writing experience. The nib is high quality and glides effortlessly on paper. The pen is comfortable to hold with a balanced weight and ergonomic design. The ink flow is consistent, and its easy to refill. If you enjoy writing with a fountain pen, the Lamy Safari is an excellent choice at a deal price wise.

As Expected
It is a LAMY Safari fountain pen with a fine tip. The tip is finer - and slightly less forgiving of poor technique - than a larger tip, but also broader and more forgiving than the EF.Exactly as expected, in a nice color. Some varieties have a gloss finish, some have a matte finish. My personal preference runs slightly in favour of the matte texture - but all have a quality feel. This is not a $200+ fountain pen. Don't expect that. But for the price... It reminds me of a low-end single malt Scotch: it's the beginning of real quality. In addition, I find the design to be a refreshingly clean and modern take on the classic, and I agree with the advertising - for me, the grip feels more ergonomic than a simple barrel. If you've met one LAMY Safari, you will not be surprised.I *was* surprised to learn that the nibs are interchangeable, so if you get a pen body you really like, but want a different nib - that's an option (though from what I've seen, the nib is a fairly large portion of the pen's price).I like these pens a lot. I'm certain there are better pens out there somewhere. But value for money, plus the pleasant tactile feedback of fountain pen writing: these are lovely.

Lefties - this is a difference maker!
If you or your loved one is left handed and wants a sturdy, reasonably-priced fountain pen that won't frustrate, this is a great choice. The ink just flows naturally and beautifully.
