Excellent, really happy and proud to own a copy of this beautiful art book, each page filled with rich visually stunning art from Yoji Shinkawa, from art work showing the games development through out the years it took to make to revealing never before seen unused idea's and interesting concepts, this art book is highly recommended for any Metal Gear Solid fan. Amazing book, tonns of incredible art
Amazing book, tonns of incredible art. The books came with "Diamond Dogs" bag which makes it even more incredible. The only way it could be better if it came down with parachute like in the game.

Fantastic art, But the lack of descriptions may be offputing for some.
There are better Metal Gear art books available. Unfortunately most will probably be a lot more expensive and hard to get.If your a fan of Yoji Shinkawa's art you are in for a treat, there's a little short, but sweet introduction written by him at the front of the book. Over 200+ pages of wonderful art, things that made it into the final product and also a lot of interesting things that where left on the cutting room floor. The negative however is that there is a severe lacking of text throughout the book. So much gorgeous illustrations have no English translation, So If you were to re-read the book you would just be going back to look at images. Nothing wrong with that, but as a fan I would definitely liked to have known a bit of the behind the scenes because it's all wonderfully laid out, and there is some story and character stuff not in the game that you really wish someone explained. Is it due to the somewhat alleged troubled development of the project? who knows. Overall, it's a beautiful book of art I've been waiting for, but I would not recommend if you want to learn anything more about the production.

Solid game art companion
The media could not be loaded. I bought this artbook on Amazon and there are two things different from the description. The book I have has 224 pages instead of the listed 184, and the cover art is of Snake with his metallic hand instead of the blood-soaked Snake and Quiet. This is a thick artbook packed with development art for the game. There are lots of designs for the characters, environment and props. You get to see familiar bold style of textures, black and white brush strokes used for character designs in earlier artbooks here again. There are also plenty of sketches, coloured concepts and the occasional 3D renders. Half the book is on characters. The mechas and other vehicles look great. One thing I like about Metal Gear Solid is their mechas really have that military feel. They are imposing and you can really feel the weight to all that metal. Weapons like arms designs are alright, not too different from the countless shooter games out there. There are several pages of prop designs, including the different cardboard boxes (lol). The rest of the book features environment art and scene paintings. There are also locations from Kingdom of the Flies which was dropped from the main game. The downside is there aren't any commentary or captions for the artworks. There are tiny handwritten Japanese annotations but they are not translated. I would have love to learn more about how the game was made and the design choices.Overall, it's a solid game art companion. Recommended to MGS fans.(See more pictures of the book on my blog. Great Book But Not as Good as Previous MSG Artbooks
This is a well put together art book depicting drawings and graphics from Metal Gear Solid V. The book is very good quality, well bound with nice quality paper. There is some excellent artwork and the lack of English text, for me is not problem as descriptions are not really needed. For the price it offers excellent value. However it is not up to the standards of the earlier MSG art books (1, 1.5 and 2) which despite being paperback are simply stunning both in layout and content ... in fairness though they cost considerably more than this book (if you could actually find one to buy)Overall a great book for anyone who enjoys MSGV or this type of graphic art - Recommended
