Growth Technology Root Riot (Bag of 100) loose

I turned away from box standard Rockwool plugs to use Root Riot cubes a long time ago. Success rates when cloning are now 100% with rarely any loss due to the pre-soaked/enriched cubes offering a far more welcoming root zone than that of Rockwool which involves far more preparation and monitoring than Root Riot. Although the cubes come pre-soaked I generally end up adding a little more moisture. Understandably, older shelf stock does often arrive a little dryer than cubes just leaving the factory floor so a little bit of adjustment is necessary but for beginners or people who are happy to pay a few pounds extra for an easier life then these are the plugs you need!! I observe rooting emerging from the plugs in 10-14days (when using clonex rooting hormone). I can't imagine using anything else other than Root Riot and Clonex together to produce my clones. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to all.

Easy to use product for rooting cuttings as you can see when individual cuttings have rooted,and these are then very easy to pot up. Works best for cuttings where stems are a little stiff as soft tip cuttings are more difficult to insert into the block without damaging the stems. And need to take care if using rooting powder that it does not get rubbed off the stem as it is inserted into the block. But even with these negatives I have found this a really useful product, particularly where space is at a premium, to use alongside more conventional methods.

EDIT: the supplier confirmed it was a manyfacturing error and immediately replaced the missing cubes. Excellent custiker service. Just remember to check the number of cubes when you open the bag. Original Review: I ordered a bag of 100. I cannot believe there are only 80 in the bag!!! Now the bag does say approx 100. And if 1 or 2 were missing I wouldn't be bothered. But 20? Absurd.

Much faster germination of seed that in my normal seed compost

I have used these for years... I will continue to do so.. I would soak them in water before use then squeeze the water out and then after planting the seeds I would water them with a mix of mycorrhizal and water. Very rare a seed doesn't pop out this way and I don't water untill the outer ones have started to dry then give them a soak again.

Good for seeds but dry out far too fast in a propogator!

Each year I grow chilli plants from seed, normaly around december time (as they are super hots, T scorpion, Fatali, Dorset Naga and take ages to mature and fruit)and grow them in a grow cupboard under LED light. I have previosly used the peat pellets and have found that they either dry out really quickly or the seeds fail to germinate. With the root riot cubes I have had a germination success rate of around 98% very few of my seeds rotted or failed to germinate. This is probably due to the material of which they are made, and allowing a good air to water ratio for the seeds and seedlings. I will never use Peat pellets again, these are definately the answer!

Schon oftmals für Sämlinge und Stecklinge benutzt und immer gute Ergebnisse erzielt. Jedoch hat jeder ein Substrat oder Medium wo es eventuell besser gelingt. Muss halt auch jeder für sich herausfinden. Dennoch für mich ein sehr gutes Produkt.
