Great first Automatic. Reliable, accurate & stunning!
Start with the dislike, like many other reviews on the seiko 5 the strap is of much lower quality and its where they are able to cut their costs.I replaced mine with a brown leather strap and never looked back! (leather strap in photos)The watch a stunning piece, loving the white face with silver dials, and brushed and polished body. The body is 37 38mm haven't officially measured but its perfect for skinny people. Essentially if you are around the 70kg mark this will fit your wrist perfectly. Most of all I love the sweeping movement of an automatic watch, and this is proudly shown with a red second hand dial.Setting up us easy, this doesn't have hacking but a little trick is to hold the crown in reverse and the second hand stops, however I don't know what this does internally so at your own risk. As they say don't adjust date between the hours of 2100 and 0300.Timekeeping, so far I've recorded a 1.5 2minute loss of time per week. Which is great in terms of automatics, if course you can adjust it to be less, but great to know this is the accuracy out of the box. One other thing people don't really talk about is the reserve time, I had this watch on for a full day then left it on my bedside table to be left alone, it held time for 41 hours, great if you happen to take it off at night, not use it for the next day completely and know that it is still holding time for the following day when you put it back on!Hands down a quality watch for an enthusiast or someone new to automatics, its very robust and has alot of soul!

Comfortable, easily readable and accurate watch.
This is a really nice automatic watch at a pretty good price (less than a sixth of the last chronometer I bought, 12 years ago). A quick look at YouTube for instructions to remove some links from the wrist band (fold-over steel band) and I was set. Just remember that it is an automatic so, if you don't move the arm with the watch on it, it's going to need winding (how odd that concept seems in the days of battery powered or solar watches). I've found accuracy to be really good, better than advertised by a long way (around +/- 1 sec/48 hours if kept wound). The glass backplate is a nice idea, seeing the swing "pendulum" and other gubbins). A good purchase at a really keen price (it came from the USA, free using my Prime A/C) for some desirable wrist furniture that does the job, looks great and feels comfortable all the time.

Seiko Mens 21 Jewels Automatic Seiko 5
The watch arrived more quickly than expected. It is an excellent watch if it keeps good time - only time itself will tell. It is the second Seiko 5 watch I have had from this seller. This kept reasonably good time whilst in the guarantee period, and then started to gain about two minutes a day which was not acceptable. I contacted the company who basically said "out of warranty - nothing we can do." Contacted a local jeweller who said it needed to go back to Seiko for servicing and would cost about £70. So I decided to try and adjust the timekeeping (with assistance from various web sites) spending about £5 on devices for holding the watch firmly and removing the back. It was easy to do, but after several attempts I could not adjust the timekeeping to my satisfaction. Decided to have one last go but unfortunately I was not sufficiently careful (I think I had become overconfident) and the watch stopped completely - and I suspect that I broke something which looked the thinness of a hair! Not able to get it to restart, decided to purchase this new one (exactly the same model) for a much lower price than having my original watch repaired. Would I recommend it - well I bought a second one - but much depends on how reliable a timekeeper it is - only time itself will tell. Been accurate within about 15 seconds for over a week. Incidentally I had to remove two links on the bracelet - no instructions provided on how to do this. However it only takes a few minutes with a needle to remove the pegs in the direction of the arrows on the back of the bracelet. Very easy - check it out on google if you need more information.Hope this review is useful.

Best Value For Money Around
I love the aesthetics of this watch. The Seiko 5 range is simply the best value for money you’ll find for an automatic watch anywhere. I have never owned a watch that wasn’t powered by a quartz movement but began to have a keen interest in all mechanical watches a few months ago. This is an extraordinary entry piece into watches and the clear case back allows you to marvel at the internals of the movement. My only fault with this watch is the clasp doesn’t really do it for me and sounds like a bag of coins when rustled. It’s also very awkward to remove links. The lume is also very sub par when your watch isn’t in direct contact with strong light which isn’t exactly ideal at nighttime. This can all be forgiven however due to the extremely affordable price point. The accuracy of this watch is fantastic. I’ve had the watch 3 weeks now and it’s simply a joy to look at.All in all, I’m very pleased with this watch.

Strap too short
I ordered this watch in the expectation of getting a quality product at an excellent price. The watch was delivered in good time and it was really good to look at, meeting my expectations. However I was disappointed to find that the strap on the watch I received was very small for a normal man's wrist. I have a smallish hand and I really found it difficult to get the watch on. I had to return this lovely watch, and it may be that this is an "one off" of some sort, as another review comments that links may have to be removed to get a proper fitting.
