best korean horror
i'm a big fan of asian horror, and this one doesn't disappoint. more feminine in nature than other south korean horrors, but it's not one of those movies that doesn't translate well and makes no sense. has good replay value, i had to own it.

Delicious!
While this isn't the best horror movie of all time, it certainly was one of the better horror movies that I've seen in the last year. The plot fairly unpredictable, the acting is excellent (Tae-soo is adorable and creepy), and the only downside is the white subtitles are sometimes hard to read against the background.

OMA! OMA! OMA!
Another good horror film from Korea. Adequate gore effects and definitely has the creep factor down pat. Great performance from the lead actress, and more than adequate supporting players. Pretty easy to follow, especially for a K-Horror film. However, I was ready to stuff a sock in the young daughters mouth after her 1,000th shrieking of “OMA” while channeling fingernails on a chalk board. BTW, the changing shoe color between pink and red is symbolic. My grade B-

NO SOUND ON THE DVD
Got the DVD but when I went to watch it, the actual film had NO sound! Only the menu had sound. Super disappointed. This has never happened to me before.

Released in U.S by Tartan
This Korean horror film was released in the U.S by Tartan Video Oct. 24, 2006. It is seemingly based on an old story about possesed red shoes that dance their victim to death. This one has a ghost twist and some other complications. Overall the movie is over the top (the shoes have a scary theme song) and it is an open ended movie. Rent first!!Storyline cut and pasted from that release:After catching her husband cheating with another woman, Sun Jae takes her young daughter and moves into a dilapidated old apartment building to start a new life. Heading home from work one day, Sun Jae finds a strange pair of high-heeled red shoes located inside her subway car, and decides to take them with her. Unfortunately, these shoes are cursed and cause unspeakable repercussions for those foolish enough to try them on.

It's ok
It's a bunhc of women who became crazy for a pair of red shoes. Not bad, not good. The main actress is decent but It's not the best K-Horor movie I have seen.

Awesome
Cool movie ,would recommend it to anyone who is a fan of asian horror. Though its not particularily blood thirsty, it has the whole cool ghost/posession thing going on like the ring. In fact, it felt very much like the ring, the american one. And it has a really cool, really creepy ending!

Creepy
Although not the best feature in the Tartan Asia Extreme catalouge, it is still a worthy contender. I dont understand the 1 star reviews, although i appreciate everybody is entitled to their own opinion. The only complaint i do have to make is in the film the shoes are not red! They are pink!!! Apart from this minor mistakei found The Red Shoes very atmospheric and incredibly creepy. Its more of a poetic horror than an in your face gore fest, but still has its blood soaked horror moments, and some quite trippy ghostly like dream sequences. All in all a good asian horror flick from South Korea following the trends of the films like "Koma" and "Into the Mirror".

Any colour shoe would have done.
Excellent late night viewing but not perfect, the film started off in a strange way which did not tally with the rest of the film until the end which is like so many of the Asian films. However the story line and acting make the film tick along just nicely including the confusing start which is explained briefly towards the end of the film.
