50+ Indigofera Suffruticosa seed, also known as Guatamalan Indigo, Anil or small-leaved indigo. Indigofera Suffruticosa is a flowering plant in the pea family and is a great source of indigo. It is native to the subtropical and tropical Americas. It is commonly used as a source for indigo dye and was used to produce Maya blue. Indigofera Suffruticosa grows slowly unless it is in 80+ degree weather. It is not hardy in ground that freezes, though it can tolerate some cold weather in the southern U.S. In the northern U.S. it needs to be over-wintered inside or in a greenhouse. A real harvest of leaves will probably not be obtained until the second year of growth. Indigofera Suffruticosa will grow up to 7' tall if it likes where it is planted. These seeds are grown and harvested from my dye gardens, and I over-winter my Indigofera plants in a heated greenhouse in large pots in my northern climate. In stock and ships quickly!!
