That depends on your idea of very thick. They’re a lot thicker than boxer briefs, but nowhere near sweatpants thickness. I find them very comfortable

I’m 5’ 11” 176 lbs waist 35”, I ordered a size Large. There fit tight but remember they are made to fit tight. The are still comfortable because of the stretchy material. You might be looking at an extra large for 225 lbs but it might be a little long for you. That might not be too much of a problem because they should cling to your legs. I really like them and find them comfortable but I wished they were fleece lined. When first putting them on they are very cold against the skin but do heat up quickly. I hope this helps.

Got these for work and recreation. Very comfortable under your pants or great for for under your shorts while protecting your legs. Recommend using the when fishing or hunting in warm temps to stop those nasty ticks from biting. Highly recommend. Just as good as those expensive brands
