Supplement recommended to RN from MD who specializes in Alzheimer's And Post Op delirium Patients
I am an after heart surgery RN, and the specialist who manages our post delirium patients swears by a more concentrated form of Phosphatidylserine(PS). He says what makes PS special is the it can cross the blood brain barrier, which a lot of supplements cannot. He says you can get DHA in fish oil, but no matter how much you take, it doesn't really help much since it can't pass the blood brain barrier. In the most extreme case, I have seen a patient who wouldn't wake up after OHS, heading towards a long rehab, couldn't get off the vent, next step trach; after concentrated dose PS, woke up and progressed to step down floor with in a couple of days. From my perspective, this is amazing. I have talked with this doctor for years, and knew that the concentrated dose of PS was prescription. I never knew that this lower dose PS was OTC until the doctor recommended this by name. The MD says he doesn't only prescribe to post op delirium, but he also uses it with his early Alzheimer's patients. He says that he does sometimes see a slower progression of Alzheimer's with prescription strength PS, (prescription is called Vayacog by the way). I am interested in this because my grandmother who I have always been close to has severe Alzheimer's. And it has been debilitating. PS may be a "miracle" supplement, but as good as it is, it cannot reverse Alzheimer's. Better hope is to recognize early signs, and to slow progression, maybe to almost a hault. My grandmother is patient of this MD, at my request. The MD did not even order Prescription PS but her disease was too advanced. He did recommend this product "Sharp Thought" buy country life vitamins by name, when I asked about something OTC that would benefit my dad, who is in his 60's and is very functional, but is starting to become more forgetful. Dementia is my dad's and my biggest fear. I have ordered a four month supply. Looking at prices this OTC PS is 17-25$ for a month supply and the MD said a prescription dose PS is about $50 a month. Rarely write reviews, but I do have high hopes for this product. Worth a try for an extended period for the price if you ask me. Will add to the review in time.

A good product.... very helpful (along with some other supplements) for my mood, memory and mental clarity.
Sharpthought is a form of PS (phosphytidylserine) which has been combined in the capsule with DHA. I've been taking it for a few weeks. I like it and plan to keep taking it. Before trying this product, I tried taking ordinary PS because I was dealing with recurring depression and dizziness/vertigo. A "pull" toward depression seemed to always be there, no matter what I was doing. The alternating depression and dizziness had came on suddenly a few months ago, after some very stressful events. So I started looking for supplements that might be helpful. Some studies I read suggested that PS (phosphytidylserine) might be an effective natural treatment for depression. I tried PS alone, and it did have some effect that way, but not consistently. Then I tried taking it with fish oil or krill oil, and it was much more effective. It was a blessing to find that PS (in combination with fish oil) was helpful... it made what felt like a dramatic difference. So I started looking for more information about it online. Reading about PS on the web, I learned that the studies that showed it to be effective for depression had been done on a type of PS derived from cows' brains (naturally high in DHA), which is no longer available because of concerns about mad cow disease. Most formulas of PS are made from soy, and unlike the products made from cows' brains, they have no DHA. The search for a more effective product led me to Sharpthought, which is complexed in a laboratory with DHA, which presumably makes it more similar to the PS found in brains. This may sound funny, but I was actually hesitant at first to try it because of the name of the product. I wasn't looking for a product to "sharpen" my thinking, but to stabilize my mood and switch off, if I could, the tendency toward sliding into depression. I was somewhat afraid that taking a mental stimulant might have other bad effects. I needn't have worried. I found that taking it was really helpful. Taking Sharpthought is an easy way of taking PS that doesn't require also taking a form of DHA along with it. I believe it is actually more effective, for me at least, than taking plain PS along with a source of DHA. And it's simpler because unlike ordinary PS, I don't have to take it with a handful of fish or krill oil capsules. The only "con" for me is that the PS in Sharpthought is derived from soy. I wish a type was available that was derived from another source such as sunflower lecithin or cabbage. But then again, this formula works. Finding it has been a blessing, just like initially finding PS. I plan on continuing to take it, and hope it remains available. Two addendums: 1) Even though this product is already complexed with DHA, I like taking it with a little krill oil, for even more of a boost. 2) Though I wasn't taking it to sharpen my memory, my friends have noticed and commented that my memory does seem a lot sharper when I take it. Someone commented on this just last night. I'm also taking some additional supplements which are also good for the brain, cognition and memory. I think it's probably the combination of all four supplements... Sharp Thought, astaxanthin, krill oil and ubiquinol... which, taken together, appear to be making a difference. LATER NOTE: For those who would like to avoid soy, Swanson makes a version of this which is made from sunflower seeds and fish (instead of soy and fish). It's called Swanson Ultra Conjugated Phosphatidylserine. Jarrow also makes an excellent liquid PS available in a soft-gel. Oh, and, mackerel and tuna are both high in PS.

Helped my son
My high functioning autistic adhd 17 year old can not handle prescription medications. These have helped him be able to focus a little bit better in school so that he can get work done, retain knowledge and helped his math grade come up. We pair it with Chlonine and Taurine. It was not drastic, but was subtle and noticed some impovement with no side effects.

Finally found a replacement
This has come as close as I can find to my medicine before they stopped selling it to the USA (Vayacog ). Same ingredients and ingredients made by the same people as the ones I got through an RX. Around the same price. Takes a bit to notice a difference. Not a one or two week medication.

Helps with focusing for ADHD
My brain really likes this. I take this the evening for work instead of caffeine, helps me focus without effecting my sleep.

I originally bought it in the store (which Amazon has the best price): Pros
I tried this product for 2 months, I originally bought it in the store (which Amazon has the best price): Pros: It works just like the bottle says it does, and it's easy to take if you already take vitamins in the morning. It feels like how you wish coffee always made you feel; awake, energetic, motivated, and quick. Cons: While it does work, it's not as effective as it seems. You feel awake and energetic, but a good night's sleep or a good amount of caffeine could do this. It does make you more motivated, but not drastically. It also helps you be on your feet mentally, but nothing crazy. Overall: I tried this product with the recommended dosage for 2 months, and it felt like it progressively got more effective the longer I took it, however, the price per bottle wasn't something to be thrilled about, and why I cut ties. I felt like dropping all that extra money per month wasn't worth the outcome of the product. If I had taken it a few more months, maybe it would've been, but I like saving my money. This isn't like Adderrall or some magic pill you see in Limitless, it felt like just a vitamin. I get a good kick out of taking Super B Complex so I'm just sticking with that for now because it's far cheaper.
