It works exactly as you would expect, forming a tight seal around your arm allowing you to shower / bathe without worrying about the cast getting wet.For the first two weeks I needed assistance to put it on as I was still in a lot of pain and attempting to do it myself was excruciating (but so was anything else I tried to do). After this period I managed myself by placing my arm on the bed and slowly stretching it over my hand and cast. It was still sore at times pulling it up (depending on how I twisted my arm) but totally manageable. You don't have to worry about bathing, showering, swimming or anything else involving water and trying not to get your cast wet. You can retain some of your privacy as you don't have to get other people to help you wash - you do look a bit like a \"smurf\" wearing one but who cares. Excellent product - easy to use, clean and dry.Unfortunately my son did manage to get a tiny pin-prick hole in his so not sure I will be able to keep it for future use.....hence the score of 4 and not 5. We got this so he could still go in the pool and sea on holiday, and have showers of course. It worked perfectly with very little leaking, which only really occurred when he was getting bashed by waves. Otherwise it held up really well to water, fitted well and has lasted 5 of the 7 weeks he’s been in plaster. Yes there’s a little bit of loosening around the seal, but not so much as it has lost waterproofing. If anything it’s now just a bit more comfortable. We bought a cheaper version first and it was ridiculous so sent it back. This was perfect. Knowing the adult version of the waterproof Bloccs would definitely be too big I ordered the child's size. It maybe a good tight fit round the top but the hand part is ridiculously large and makes showering washing hair and household chores much harder to accomplish. My son is almost 6foot and he put his hand beside the thumb and hand part only to find the amount round the hand and the length would be enormous even for him. I am aware there has to be room for a cast to fit. This I do not feel would be safe for a child to go swimming in. I bought two one for upstairs and one for the kitchen ( Hygiene ) The distance from the thumb and the end of the hand is so far apart the two cannot be used together. I use it without my thumb in it at all. I had searched everywhere before I had bought these on Amazon. I was desperate by the time they arrived so put up with the inconvenience. I return this Monday 9th November after being in cast since 1st October. I also found they were much too tight at the top. I do have child size arms as the person putting the plaster on commented on. I am in and out of the shower as quick as possible because it is sore to wear these for any length of time. But, as I said, he’s 8 so I wasn’t fully convinced… when I went to take the cover off the cast it was bone dry inside. My 9 year old daughter broke her arm (cast slightly above the elbow) right before we left for a beach vacation. She was devastated by the idea of not being able to swim. We ordered this cover in the hope she would at least be able to at least stand in the water. She did much more than that! She was able to fully submerge her arm in the pool and ocean and it stayed completely dry. The key is to get all the air out of the cast cover. At first, we tried having her slowly lower her arm into the water while keeping a small gap at the top to let out air. This was okay for the pool but difficult in the ocean when waves were rolling in. Then we started using a straw to suck out the air. This seemed to work better and guaranteed a tight seal. The only downside to the cover is that it is tight and has a recommended time limit of 30 minutes. Not ideal for a full day at the beach. To solve the problem, we wrapped her arm with Press ‘n Seal plastic wrap. This allowed her to take breaks and keep the cast dry and sand-free when she was out of the water.
