Perfect Bible translation. Maintains the elegant tone, yet leaves little need for the typical mental gymnastics most need with KJV, NASB, etc. The study notes are most helpful. Introductions to each book are mandatory with any study Bible. The thumb indexing is SO convenient. Add to the mix a genuine leather cover, and what else could you want?

I love just about everything about this Bible! The leather is beautiful: it smells amazing and feels soft and buttery in your hands. The markings on the leather are stamped and no color was added which I greatly appreciate. I purchased another, more expensive but lower quality full leather Bible that actually had a UPC Bar Code stamped in gold on the leather! The pages in this Bible are also heavier than most study Bibles. I love that there are two ribbon markers which are just the right length to hang out a couple of inches but not more. And I don't use the tabs, but they are an interesting feature that many will appreciate.I have found the size of the font to be very readable, as well as the contrast of the ink on the page. The study notes are set off at the bottom of each page with a light beige background for differentiation from the biblical text. And I appreciate that the words of Jesus are printed in red. While the timelines are a little difficult to read, the charts, maps and photos are very well done. Another interesting and helpful feature is that New Testament quotes of the Old Testament are in bold type; even the red letter quotes.As for the translation, I am really enjoying the CSB! The NIV has long been my preferred translation. I also frequently use the ESV but find it too stilted to readily enjoy and sometimes difficult to understand. In addition, I often use the NLT which I appreciate for its comprehensibility. But these days, I find myself preferring this CSB Bible to my many others because it is comprehensible but puts things in a fresh way which prevents me from skimming the passage and assuming that I completely understand it since the language is so familiar. In addition, I just really, really enjoy holding this beautiful Bible in my hands, turning its pages and pouring over the many notes and features. The study notes and scholarly articles are excellent and add to my enjoyment of this study Bible. One feature I particularly enjoy is the inclusion of Greek and Hebrew word studies sprinkled throughout the text.Thank you CSB Translators, Contributors and Holman Bible Publishers for this wonderful Bible. Beautiful leather Bible with great references and pictures. It is definitely one that will enhance your knowledge and understanding of the written word. However, it is very large. I debated on keeping because it was such a nice Bible but ultimately returned because it was just too large for me. My brother has one and loves it!

I bought the Christian Standard Study Bible for more detailed explanation of The One Minute Bible. I grew up on KJV and enjoying the CSB translation. Beautiful leather Bible with helpful tabs and 2 bookmarks. Highly recommend.

Having used the CSB app for the last three months I can say that this translation is terrific! I am delighted to now own a copy of the CSB study bible. The CSB uses a translation philosophy of “Optimal Equivalence”. The translation team sought a balance between word-for-word and thought for thought. Comparing this CSB next to the NIV and the ESV, one immediately discovers a translation with a crisp focus that brings out the meaning of the text while at the same time improving readability. It is simply a better translation.The text-block of the Scriptures is clear and easy on the eyes. An added benefit is the type is “line-matched” – the printing on the front and back of a page are lined up to match. (Surprising for a bible at this price point!) Because of this there is less “shadowing” making the text easier to read - it just looks cleaner. On the other hand, like many study bible’s, the notes can seem like a wall of text and the pictures, maps, etc. demonstrate “shadowing” on the reverse page. The study notes bring out facts and ideas that will cause you to think about things in new and unique ways. It should be noted that the study notes are identical to the notes found in other Holman study bibles.The materials used in the construction of the bible are very nice for the price. However, there are some things that are worth noting. The leather on the bible is labeled as being goatskin, although that is not mentioned in the Amazon listing. The pages of the bible are “gilted”, but it is too heavily /poorly applied. As a result, the pages of the bible were stuck together. It took two hours to separate the 2146 pages so the pages were immediately accessible. The yapp is ok, but could be just a little bit wider all the way around. There are two ribbons incorporated into the bible – one black, one red. They are just ok – they would be more useful if they were wider and thicker. It would also be nice to have a third or fourth.Overall this is a nice bible rendition and is good value for money!Should you order this bible, I would recommend that you check it over carefully upon receipt. The first copy I received had a number of pages that were not cut correctly, the spine was separating at the top and one of the edges of the bible had a glue smear. It clearly should have never left the factory as a first quality bible. Unfortunately, the bible is printed and produced in China.Holman should consider producing the CSB translation through Royal Jongbloed for their upper-end bibles.
