The open/close valve I use just to relieve pressure before opening. Hot drinks stay hot for hours. This is kind of what I'd expect, except they're always too hot when I first prepare them, so have to add loads of milk to bring temperature down.The capacity is good although I learned to leave space for the part of the lid that sinks into the cup. First time, it caused a spillage as I'd over-filled it.Described as "gun metal" the images just looked black. However it's a really nice dark grey which I was hoping for. I'm happy with it.
