Much better looking in the picture
I was super excited when I ordered these, after spending ages trying to find a sneaker I could wear to work that was primarily gray, and in my size. I've bought Onitsuka Tigers before in the past and loved them and even wore them to work long hours in a kitchen and they held up fine. These however, I doubt will even make it a month, just wearing casually, not even to work as I had expected to do. To start, the packaging was a little odd and offputting, and I could really care less about that, since it's just shoes, not breakable items, but it was just really strange. The shoes were shipped in a giant unmarked box with nothing inside( like padding) but a plain brown shoe box, no brand labels or product information. When I opened the the shoe box, again, no padding or paper, just the shoes and an Onitsuka Tiger tag that looked like it had been torn off laying on the side. I only mention this because it made me kind of skeptical as to where they even came from. I can't imagine the manufacturer packaging looking like this, or really what kind of business would package an item so poorly, unless these shoes aren't even really Onitsuka Tigers? I don't know. They look really shotty in construction, and fit a little large on my foot as well. I wish I wouldn't have tried to wear them, and just sent them back right away, but I thought I'd give them a go and wore them to work. That was a mistake. Literally after ONE day of work, they look all beat up, like I've been wearing them for months. I'm worried that in some spots they'll start to tear if I wear them too often. I'm pretty upset these shoes were so poorly made as they weren't cheap at all, and I had hoped to get some good use out of them. I don't know if they are some weird knock off version, or what, but they certainly aren't built anything like the ones I've owned in the past. I'd hate to think this brand's quality had declined this much for a $70 shoe, when it looks like something I could have purchased at Wal-Mart for $10. Super disappointing, and such a waste of money.

The shoe you are searching for
I should start by saying the only thing I am not a fan of is the look of the shoe on the outer shoe viewed from the 'inside', which is the part most people wouldn't see unless you are sitting with you leg up on your knee for instance. Beyond this these shoes are worth every penny. They are light, have actual arch support, and are built well. Of course they are fashionable as well. They also breath well thanks to the good quality mesh that is much finer grade than the usual fare. I also like the back of the shoe as it has a leather flap for pulling them on. I also noticed that the heal is very sturdy and won't 'blow out' thanks to the sole of the shoe extending up into this area. Honestly, I have searched high and low for a nice looking, unique shoe that is not going to fall apart in three months. These are it, I've had them for over a month and they show no wear, which is more than I can say for several other pairs.

Onitsuka Tiger Fencing Shoe
as a martial artist, id previously thought my Feiyue shoes were the most comfortable, untill i tried these... now, these shoes are special. not only do they have terrific arch support and all around snug comfort, but theyre extremely durable. the tread is made specially for Fencing, it goes across on the left foot and leangthwise on the right. those of you familiar with Bruce Lee will know that they are also great for Jeet Kune Do, which has footwork inspired by Fencing. you may have seen Bruce were shoes like these in old pictures. these shoes are based on those, which came out in 1976, so says the groovy card which comes with the shoes. and of course, you cant go wrong with the hipper-than-your-adidas old school design. Onitsuka Tiger by Asics are unique, comfortable, and hip. weather your art is Fencing, Jeet kune Do, Gung Fu, or just being comfortably hip, you absolutely cannot go wrong with these! get some now! 5 stars (these shoes are abit narrow, those of you with very wide feet may find some discomfort at first)

Good Fencing Shoe
I use these for fencing and they work well. I used to use my everyday sketchers, and fencing in those was a mistake as it cause the soles to wear out unevenly causing slight posture issues. These shoes are made for fencing and the soles seem to hold up after a decent amount of use. I took a star off as they run a bit narrower than my liking which can sometimes give me a blister.

in that scenario they're almost like not wearing any shoes
I'm flat footed with no arch, so these definitely are not the shoes for walking around the city for a day. For me, these shoes are simply about completing a look with my outfit. If I'm at work, sitting all day, these shoes are ok for that. In fact, in that scenario they're almost like not wearing any shoes.

Nice looking and fitting shoe
It fits as expected and looks nice as well. I started fencing a year ago and bought this as a shoe to practice with. I've yet to actually compete with it, but it has great traction and helps a lot during practice.I'm hesitant to actually use it a lot though as other reviews and labels warn against intense athletic use, but I'll see soon.

Onitsuka expectations
I love my Onitsukas. They are a great shoe. Last for a long time if you take care of them. Fit really well and run slightly big/long. The weird thing is that my other Onitsukas have the stripes on both sides of the shoe but these only have them on one side of the shoe. Make sure you look for that before buying. Still love them though.

Excellent
Very pleased with this product. Like my earlier pair of Onitsuka Tigers, this one is light and comfortable. Excellent for daily use. Cushioning and ventilation is good, too. Really eye catching.Of course, this pair is not meant to be worn as real fencing shoes, but rather as lifestyle shoes modeled after the real thing. I've owned the real Asics fencing shoes in the past, and these Onitsukas are almost faithful to the originals.
