The pen and customer service are both excellent.
This pen looks and feels impressive. At first touch it’s a bit heavy, but a lot of the weight is in the cap. If you put the cap to the side it’s very balanced. The nib (that’s the tip right?) is a bit thicker than I expected, but it makes for a beautifully smooth writing experience. The pen just glides. It comes with a cartridge compatible with an ink well, and short disposal cartridges. It’s also compatible with the Waterman Large Standard Ink Cartridges (which had I purchased previously). Being compatible with three different ink sources is convenient feature. The pen comes loaded with the “ink well” cartridge installed, and I was unsure of how to uninstall this. But the QR code and the excellence customer service people rescued me in all of 3 minutes. 5 minutes into opening, I had the disposable cartridge refitted, and I was writing things down.I’m just getting into journal writing, and while I love a good roller ball, but I’m fairly new to fountain pens. My dad on the other hand, gets a pen every year from his boss (he worked at the same hospital for 30 years). He happened to be with me when I opened it up, so he took it for a spin. Even with his experience of his Mont Blanc and his calligraphy pen sets, he was very impressed with this.I’ve only had it for a few hours, but I’m loving writing with a running hand. The ink flow is evenly distributed, the ink runs quickly but dries quickly, so I haven’t smeared it yet, and it writes well at all angles and speeds. So far I’m a big fan. This is going to be a tremendous help for unpacking my thoughts and improving my cursive penmanship. The $40 was worth it.Other things I noticed:1. The customer service was excellent. They immediately connected to FB messenger, which I use routinely, and knew precisely the questions to ask.2. The packaging was sturdy and well made. It had a bunch of dried ink inside the box which was a bit weird, but nothing on the pen or in the case, just on the protective laminated paper which houses the case.3. The cap has 3 parts: the little nub on the top, the paper clip thing and the cap proper. The cap has cheap plastic threads which connect the nub to the cap proper. But this is probably never going to be relevant. All the rest of the materials are metal and they seem sturdy. If the pen breaks in a few days, I’ll come back with a follow up, but for now, I think I have a new favorite pen.

Absolutely love it
Ink cartridges can be a little funky, so I use refillable ink for my calligraphy pens. This pen works wonderfully. It feels expensive, it writes really well, and it’s really smooth. I will definitely be purchasing others. I’m glad I got the medium, because my other pens are a little thicker, but I understand that that can vary between pen companies. For those saying that the ink doesn’t work, you might’ve not put the refillable cartridge in correctly. As I said above, they can be a little tricky, so that’s why I use refillable ink to go with it.

Excellent pen
Good looking, nice feel, writes well. I’ve used fountain pens since I was in college in the late 60s. This pen is a keeper! Very pleased.Adding to my previous review…… I wish I could give this company more than 5 stars. I had a minor issue with my new pen. At first I thought it was something I would have to live with, but I decided to contact Ellington Pens. Their customer service should be the model for all customer service departments. Not only do they sell a good looking excellent writing pen, but their customer service could not be any better!

Excellent quality pen
This pen was so well made and had a wonderful nib it writes so great. so smooth and constant good flow of ink. The only thing I had trouble with was the weight of the pen I have small hands and some arthritis and the weight of the pen was not comfortable for me my hand was hurting to use so I had to return the fountain pen. The fine nib was one of the best ones I have used it seems a very true fine size nib some other fine nib pens seem to write bolder but this one does not write heavy. This pen is sowell made but to heavy for my hand. I liked it so much I considered to keep it but decided that I probably would not use it very much and maybe be sorry if my hand starting hurting. I liked the converter that comes with the pen it was good quality also. But the best thing I liked was the quality nib. I hope ellington makes a lighter pen in the future because there are so many nice things with this fountain pen. I loved the red color also !! The Quality is excellent, wonderful pen !!Thanks Judy

Good value for price
For the price it’s a really good pen. The nib glides really well and honestly the best I’ve tried. Better than my Cross Century II pen. Very smooth. The all black color looks amazing. What I’d like to improve, and why I won’t purchase again, is the way the cap fastens (when the pen is capped). It’s wiggly. Feels loose even though it’s not, it is securely capped, it is just wiggly. I don’t like that. It makes the pen feel cheap. I like the cap to be firmly attached and not wiggle around when it is attached. If that looseness becomes improved then this is a nearly perfect pen.Note that the cap IS fastened and I don’t think it will come off when fastened. It wiggles back and forth when fastened. Just want to clarify that. The pen writes supremely well. I’m using the ink converter which feels cheap.

Can't write my poetry without it!
I absolutely love my ink fountain pen! It is the perfect tool for writing poetry in my vintage notebook. The smooth ink flow and the elegant design of the pen make it a joy to use. The fine nib allows for precise and delicate writing, perfect for capturing the beauty of language in my poems. As with any fountain pen, give it a few seconds of drying time before turning the page. I highly recommend this pen to any fellow poets or writers looking to add a touch of sophistication to their craft. It has quickly become my go-to writing instrument and I can't imagine writing without it.

Pen Collector Says, "One of my favorite writing instruments"
(BLACK model) A truly awesome fountain pen. Great weight. Nice balance. Posts well (a bit heavy on the end but manageable). The ink flows with great confidence and boldness on the page. I find the barrel a bit short for where my forefinger and thumb want to ride it. They prefer to be above the cap line but not enough barrel to sit properly in the thumb saddle/webbing. Posting extends the length but, as mentioned earlier, there's a bit of weight to it. Well engineered and a great writing instrument well worth double the price. Happy Happy :)

Ellington Fountain Pens
What can I say ??? Amazing pens latest purchase a pink one which now makes my collection of 5I only use fountain pens can’t use biros and I researched all fountain pens but some were ridiculously expensive and could not justify the cost so I bought my first Ellington pen and have to say they are worth the money! Not to expensive but very durable and a dream to write with. My personal preference is medium nib and I prefer the ink converter to the cartridge and the best ink to use with these pens is the watermann intense blackI would highly recommend Ellington fountain pens and I also found the customer service very professional and quick to resolve any issues ( I have not had any issues I may add) but have had dealings with the customer service congratulating them . These Ellington Fountain Pens are very comfortable and a very good weight not too heavy. I really can’t express fully how much I enjoy writing with these Ellington Fountain Pens - don’t hesitate to buy you won’t be disappointed! My next purchase will be a red and a green one ❤️😁

Unexpectedly pleasant!
To be honest, I was not expecting such an enjoyable writing experience from a relatively new company. This pen, right out the gate, was exquisite. The flow is perfect, the feel both posted and unposted is balanced. I prefer the posted, but that is personal preference. Overall Ellington was a lovely surprise and I will certainly be buying again

Fabulous Fountain Pen
I have small handwriting so I always need a fine nib. I also love slim bodies to my fountain pens. This has both. It's elegant and writes clear on a fine nib. Easy to fill with ink. Honestly I've had much more expensive pens (Cross & Montblanc) and this is my fave! :-)

Most excellent!
I'm a bit of a pen geek and own too many pens in multiple price ranges from $20 to almost $1000. I like a good $20 pen more than a lousy $500 pen so don't discriminate based on price. But this Ellington pen is most excellent. It feels great and feels expensive, has great weight and quality, and writes so smoothly. I ordered a second immediately. Get this pen! You will not be disappointed.
