Practical, insightful, and transformational
"Just Teaching" is a valuable resource for all educators. The book highlights three essential elements of effective teaching--feedback, engagement, and well-being. Eckert shares his experiences and invites other teachers and leaders to share their stories from the classroom, making the book practical, insightful, and transformational. I recommended Eckert's book for my school's faculty summer reading, and our new teachers are reading it together. It has fostered a shared understanding of effective teaching practice and pointed to ways to improve together.

“Just Teaching” is a quick, fun read that is as encouraging as it is instructional. Dr. Jon Eckert shares insight and inspiration from fellow educators across the country. A Must-Read for the Modern Educator
As an early-career educator whose initial years in the profession have been marked by the pandemic and its aftermath, this book is a much-needed breath of fresh air. In light of rising teacher attrition levels due to burnout, professional advice that essentially requires you to "just do a little bit more" feels impossible. However, in Just Teaching, Eckert suggests that there is a way to love this profession, do it sustainably, and meaningfully impact students without actually having to add significantly more to your plate. In these pages, Eckert combines years of diverse educational experiences and the wisdom of others in the profession to cast a vision of education that is attainable, valuable, and "effortless." This is the kind of book that every teacher and administrator ought to get their hands on if they desire to work with purpose and make a real difference in the lives of their students and coworkers.

Practical and encouraging
Whether you are new to the profession or a seasoned veteran, Just Teaching provides practical (and research based) strategies and wisdom for helping your students flourish, but it is so much more than “another book” on teaching. Dr. Eckert encourages teachers to build community where teachers support each other emphasizing that “the work is simply too great to do alone.” As you read through each chapter you will be affirmed by the great work that you are already doing and be challenged to “get better”. This book would be great to read individually but powerful to read as a team or school.

Thoughtful and practical
I've encountered my fair share of educational literature in my 16th year of teaching and now serving as an administrator. "Just Teaching" by Jon Eckert stands out for its timelessness and universal applicability, making it a gem that I've confidently handed to both new and veteran teachers alike.Eckert's work thoughtfully explores the teaching profession, combining insightful reflections with practical guidance. The book's seamless blend of theory and practicality strikes a chord with me. It's a guide for newcomers navigating the labyrinth of education and a valuable resource for seasoned educators seeking fresh perspectives. The section on well-being is a testament to Eckert's understanding of the challenges educators face. In a profession where burnout is a constant threat, the author provides empathy and actionable strategies. This section is a crucial piece of advice for teachers at any stage of their career. It resonates with the struggles we all share, offering a lifeline for those navigating the often turbulent waters of education. I could not more highly recommend this book.

For more than “Just Teachers” check it out - admin, cosches, parents, undergrads!!!
I’m a 20+ year educator that is no longer in a traditional classroom. This book opened my eyes to see that the qualities Eckert discuses go beyond the classroom. They’ve helped me as a leader, a parent, and even as a basketball coach! It is simply, yet elegantly, written. Accessible to a young mind, and refreshing & challenging for an “old dog” like me. Thank you, Dr E for serving the current and next generations with this incredible offering!!!

Must Have for Junior High Teachers
I received this book last year and it radically changed my perception of Feedback, Engagement, and Well-being. Dr. Eckert masterfully writes on how teachers are meant to teach for Justice and how our classrooms are to be life-giving environments. I have personally given copies to my administrator and other teachers in my department. 10/10 recommend!
