For years, decades even, I have resisted the trend to ever longer shorts. To me, shorts should be above the knee and since I have short legs, this means a really short inseam. I have even resorted to buying my shorts from the USA, good quality but very expensive. Now, finally I have been able to buy 5 inch inseam shorts in the UK, and at a decent price. These shorts are comfortable and come in a variety of colours. Size availability may be a problem, I noticed that many sizes were out of stock but fortunately mine was not. The fit is on the large size and you might need a size smaller.

I completely agree with those who want "proper" shorts. I'm nearly 70 too. These are fine and for what I paid what's not to like. I will be buying more for the holiday in September which won't now be happening! I don't find them baggy or liable to cause embarrasment if I wear nothing underneath, as someone suggested. I suspect he's bragging! :)

At last: “proper” shorts like you used to be able to get that stop mid-thigh. I’ve always hated knee-length or longer “shorts” - they seem to me to miss the point of wearing shorts which is to let the legs out to breath when it’s warm. Until recently I was having to get someone to alter over-long shorts because they were all I could find without paying a fortune for Rohan “bags shorts”). These ones are comfortable, perhaps a little generous round the waist (they fit me, anyway, despite my “gut”, o0and I was worried they’d be too tight), soft and light and appear well-enough made to last a few seasons of casual use. I have two pairs and love them.

This is a fantastic pair of shorts if you don’t like them too long. The fabric is really lightweight so you don’t get too hot, and the stretch makes them really comfortable. At 5’7 I find the length just perfect, mid thigh.The fit is slightly large, I would recommend choosing one size smaller

I have put on quite a bit of flab. I ordered a size to fit my expanded waist. It turns out that the shorts are very roomy. There is plenty of space around the waist, too much in fact. If i breathe in they fall down, if i move too quickly the fall down. I now have a belt tied tightly. I would advise ordering at least two inches smaller than your usual size.
