Great product ~ Great smell
I try all different types of wet shave soap and particularly like sandalwood. I have to say that this is a premium product but worth every penny. The texture is soft and makes a perfect shaving cream once worked with a shaving brush and the smell is amazing. I will be buying some more in the future and would highly recommend this product for a proper shaving fan

Forget the rest - this is the best!
Like wow! Opening the lid on this for the first time, and smelling that sandalwood-scented cream took me back to my boyhood days. It reminded me of being taken by my Dad to a local, old-fashioned barber (the type who would discretely whisper in your ear afterwards "would sir also like a little something for the weekend"). The overhead bell would 'ping' as we opened the door, and our nostrils would be assailed with a fragrance that was just so similar to this shaving cream from Taylor's of Old Bond Street. For all I know, our barber could have been using this very same product, together with his badger hair brush, and cut-throat razor because Taylor's have been around since 1854.I have to mention that this is great to use. You only need a small amount on your brush to work up a nice thick lather, I do this straight on my face, but you could use a separate bowl if you so desire. Until now, I hadn't realised what a major difference a good quality shaving cream can make. This cream gives me a lovely smooth shave, does not irritate my skin, and leaves a subtle, lingering scent that has received rare compliments from my wife. In my opinion, if you are thinking of changing the shaving cream you presently use then this one from Taylor's should be your first choice. I've already expounded on its many qualities, but it's worth adding that this is sensibly priced, comes in an attractive screw-lid tub (top tip: when empty, this curved-bottom container could be used as a respectable shaving bowl), oh, and it should last you a fair few months. I have no hesitation in recommending this product to other discerning Amazon customers.

Excellent
This shaving cream is lovely it's one of my favourites. The lather is exceptional and luxurious. It only takes a fingernail size of product in your shaving to quickly produce a wonderful lather. The smell has wonderful notes of sandalwood.

Not great for my particular skin, but a decent cream at a good price
I have used Taylors creams in the past, and in particular the lavender shaving cream. If you like the lavender you will like the rose, and vice versa - they have very similar characteristics apart from (obviously) the particular flower scent.Others have complained about the packaging. I didn't really have a problem. The top could have been on tighter and the internal plastic lid had lifted a little, but this is quite a firm solid cream (like a hair wax) so leaking isn't a particular danger. The material of the pot and appearance are perhaps on the cheaper end of the spectrum, but then again so is this cream (I paid just less than £10). I wasn't impressed but I was happy enough. The scent is really distinctive. When I showed my wife she immediately said "Yum - Turkish delight" and that's pretty spot on. It's a very powerful sweet rose scent and it smells delicious. I was concerned that it would last a long time and make me smell "girly", but it dissipates quickly after shaving and I wasn't worried about it clashing with my choice of aftershave. Essentially it's a great smell whilst you're shaving but won't stay with you in a big way and I'm fine with that in a soap.In terms of lather, I was a little disappointed. I've had similar TOBS creams before and remembered them giving me a good lather, but I find this a bit drying and not as smooth as I had expected. It could be a slightly different recipe, or it might be simply that it's 6 months since I last used a TOBS cream and I've got used to other (better?) creams since. It lathers easily and the lather looks good, but it just doesn't provide the same lubrication that I'm getting from the (more expensive) Dr Harris cream that I'm also currently using. Consequently, my shave is neither as close not as comfortable.I should add that I have skin that is very sensitive to soap and dries very quickly when exposed to it. That is the reason I use creams and not soaps. The drying non-lubricating sensation is *exactly* what I experience when using a soap - especially as other reviewers here are reporting much better performance.I will continue to use it because I love the scent so much - but probably occasionally rather than day to day.I was a little disappointed, but I think that's probably down to my particular skin rather than a lack of quality in the cream. The scent is really nice and the price is very good. So I'm giving it 4 stars for its general quality - I'd recommend it to others but not to myself!

Best cream on the market
Bought this product for the first time, and it's honestly the best shaving cream I've ever used in my life. It's more expensive than I'd normally spend, but I will not be buying another cream ever again apart from Taylors. If you're thinking about buying this product, then buy it. You will not be disappointed.
