Gorgeous
Can't add much to the big review above, other than to say that the Rome of 1953 when this was filmed looks absolutely stunning in colour and the very wide 2.55:1 format. The lack of traffic adds to the idealised portrayal of the city and makes you yearn to be able to see it in the same way.The story is a very enjoyable romance which finds every excuse to get out into the beautiful scenery, with the quality of the picture being significantly better than you'd probably expect from a film of this age.Absolutely perfect for a miserable afternoon when you just want something bright, cheery and escapist to wash over you and transport you back to happier, simpler times.

three gold coins
you can come to this from 2 angles...the absolutely gorgeous scenery or as a delicious rom com.You could just watch it for the stunning locations (suprisingly devoid of people)or just let the story gently enfold you.O.K its all very light, every body lives happily ever after and its very unrealistic but sometimes you need this sort of thing and this film delivers this in spades without getting sugary.I suppose its really what they used to call a "womans film" but who cares, the acting is first rate and its all in stunning colour

Old fashioned escapism
Filmed in Rome in the early 1950's, a simple story about well brought up and well dressed young American ladies finding True Love. Nothing terribly unusual - girls meet boys, lose boys and find boys again in time for final credits. What makes the film a joy are the shots of Rome, Venice and the Italian countryside at that time. Beautiful! The cities are uncrowded, and there is very little traffic in Rome (even less in Venice). According to those who remember it, traffic in Italy really was very sparse at that time. Escapist entertainment pure and simple.

Classic in every sense
This is a classic film and is still watchable today hence buying my own copy based on I have seen it before but I still think its worth a space on the shelves in my collection plus a terrific song by Frank Sinatra

Gorgeous Endearing Film
This classic is totally endearing and brings back many memories of the Trevi Fountain in Rome before the huge traffic in Rome became a hrrible reality.

but I loved it - the music
I saw this film in the 1950's as a young boy. My aunts took me to the cinema one evening, probably to keep me out of mischief. I was only 10, but I loved it - the music, the actors, the gorgeous Rome locations and the storyline. I was delighted to discover that it is every bit as warm and romantic and entertaining today. I am still singing the theme song.Gerry Mc Menemy.

A rainy afternoon film.
Cheesey 1950's film. Take a pot of tea and a box of biscuits to watch this one. Sex is high on everyone's mind but true to 1950's Hollywood never mentioned or acted upon. A nice rainy afternoon film.
