Product Description Once upon a time, a simple story... The little giraffe was born on 25th May in year 1961...Saint Sophie's day. In those days, the only animal toys available were farm animals or pet figures... That is why one day in France a certain Monsieur Rampeau, who was an expert in transforming sap from the hevea tree using the rotational moulding of rubber as a toy-making concept, came up with the idea of designing a giraffe. Such an exotic wildlife figure would be a first on the market, and its size and shape would be ideal for a baby's small hands to grasp. Sophie the Giraffe, who looked exactly the same then as she does today, went into production on Thursday 25th May. She was an immediate success. Sophie quickly became a “must have” in baby’s essentials. Designed to stimulate the senses and soothe teething gums, parents recognised right away the benefits of this little giraffe for their child. By simple word of mouth, the little giraffe's fame spread. Vulli, a company based in Rumilly in the Haute-Savoie region of France has created an extensive range of Sophie the Giraffe products to compliment the original toy and amuse and soothe babies from birth onwards. The Double Ice Bite teething ring has 2 water filled rings which can be chilled in the fridge to help soothe sore gums. The soft and chewy rings also double as handles making it easy for baby to hold. Both rings also have a textured surface to gently massage baby’s gums, with the reassuring face of Sophie the Giraffe to comfort baby. Suitable from 3 months onwards. Box Contains 1 x Double Ice Bite Teething Ring

The teething part is quite thick so would better suit a 6 month old and unlike other Sophie ...
I bought this teether for my 4 month old and I have to agree with the other reviewers, it really isn't for 3 months+ as stated in the product specifications. The teething part is quite thick so would better suit a 6 month old and unlike other Sophie products the giraffe is just hard plastic so not ideal for a baby learning to hold. The ears are softer but again doesn't allow for a younger baby to be able to hold, I would recommend spending a little more and buying the Sophie Giraffe soft teether.

Great for teething
My baby started teething really early, and I spent some time looking for teething rings you could cool in the fridge.I found this one and my daughter loves it :)Unfortunately, she started teething really early, about 2 months, so she couldn't quite hold it properly. The only qualm I have with this product is that for a very young baby, it is easier to hold the rings and chew the giraffe itself.Obviously, this defeats the point of having it cool in the fridge, but although being hard, my daughter enjoyed the head anyway. As for the material, even I chew it sometimes and it seems like it could take quite a chewing. The sides of the giraffe have different textures to chew, with bands on one, and little lumps on the other. My daughter is too young at the moment but I suppose it gives nice variation to older children.Great for teething :)

Not quite a match to the real sophie feeling!
Looks lovely but for a 6 month old who loves her Sophie the texture is nothing like it. It is shiny, stiff plastic and she is not so keen on it. The water sections do not get cold enough in the fridge to be noticable, and you aren't allowed to freeze it...but my daughter is really particular, so will keep trying her with it!

Little hard giraffe
Lovely teether little hard giraffe which I wasn’t expecting for a teether. None the less helps numb the gums when cold from frozen or cooled from fridge. It’s water filled

Unexpectedly disappointed
I had high hopes for this teether. It let me down. My little one loves Sophie the giraffe and I thought this teether would be loved just as much but i was wrong. His hands get cold after holding it for a short while as the only places he can hold it is the cold parts. The giraffe head is hard plastic and he is only 5 months so we have had a few tears after he has hit his head and face a few times. It is very expensive for what it is so I guess you're paying for the name.

It is very cute. Looks like my daughter.
I think this teether is very cute as it reminds me of my young daughter smiling. The only problem I have with this is that as she is rather young, she finds it difficult to grasp and put it in her mouth. I think overall this is a nice teether.

Not a good buy
I wasn't impressed by this Sophie. I thought the Sophie was also in the natural rubber.

Useless, so badly designed
This teether is very badly designed- the chilled rings are the handles for the baby to hold, and the bit that then goes in the mouth are the hard plastic ears. His hands get cold & he can't get the rings in his mouth as that's how it's held
