Amazing must have
Always have this in for my Guinea pigs. They seem to love it. They prefer the taste of the aniseed over the banana but eat both. An essential for piggy owners. Great quality product and helped them so many times.

bunny first aid kit essential
i have two rabbits and this is an essential in my first aid kit. great quality, smells lovely and the rabbits willingly take it even when they’re sick. it’s a little expensive BUT it’s worth the money.

Very well recommended for guinea pigs
Very good product to keep on hand incase of guinea pigs becoming ill and quite long expiration date too, which is helpful. Directions are easy to follow and nice packaging. Pack does get used up quickly, and is a bit pricier than other brands, but fantastic nutritional wise

Excellent recovery food
My bunny needed life saving recovery food, he wouldn’t eat the regular flavour but liked the apple & banana one. Once we got the hang of the right consistency and syringe feeding it went like a dream!

Found a way for out poorly bun to eat it
Needed to feed one of our buns up as he was very poorly and lost a lot of weight. Vet sold us the aniseed one, which he did not like (nor did our healthy bun). We bought this one to try as it seemed to have been more popular with other buns. He didn’t like it. We added banana = some small success, dipped dandelion heads in it = again some success, but both methods not really long term practical nor totally effective. In desperation I added some of his usual nuggets to the mash and that was a winner! Totally ate it all up by himself! I just put some in until it was a reasonable ratio. Wanted to leave a review in the hopes this helps someone else who has a bun that needs a feed up (might work for guineas too?). Anyway hope that helps at least one bun / worried human. (Also added a photo of our other bun as she said she was fed up with it all being about him (disclaimer: she has also had lots of extras dandelions, forage and fuss, whatever she claims!))

Saved my rabbit
My rabbit had a problem with gut problems last year and it cost me £600 to treat at the vet with all sorts of stuff. I couldn’t afford that this time, and was worried. I researched this and decided to try it. Well it worked. In fact it worked so well, and the flavour made it more palatable for my rabbit and wasn’t hard to get him to eat it. The only downfall is that it didn’t come with a syringe. This is a must have for rabbit owners, I’ve got some on standby and the first signs of any gut problems I’ll be using this straight away.

A True Lifesaver for Small Herbivores — Worth Having on Hand
Oxbow Critical Care is one of those products I sincerely believe every rabbit, guinea pig, or small herbivore owner should keep in their emergency kit. When an animal isn’t eating on their own due to GI stasis, dental issues, illness, or post-surgical recovery, this can quite literally be a lifesaving product. The powder mixes easily with warm water to your desired consistency and works well for syringe feeding or bowl feeding. I appreciate that it’s timothy hay–based with essential vitamins and minerals, so it supports gut health while providing complete nutrition during recovery. The fiber content is exactly what you want when supporting a compromised digestive system. Palatability is also a big win here — even picky animals tend to accept it far better than expected, especially when warmed slightly or mixed to a smooth consistency. The resealable packaging helps keep it fresh, which is important since you may not use it daily. This is not meant to replace regular feeding long-term, but as a recovery or emergency support food, it’s unmatched. I’ve seen firsthand how valuable it is when time matters and an animal needs nutrition immediately Pros: High-quality, vet-recommended formula, easy to mix and syringe feed, supports digestive health, very appetizing to most small animals, essential to have on hand for emergencies, smells like a tropical green smoothie, large portions for the price, and varying hardness/thickness depending on the animals preference, and so much more! Cons: Should be fed as a directed and not as a daily food replacement, and hard to find in stock at times. Overall, Oxbow Critical Care absolutely earns its reputation. If you care for rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, or other herbivores, this is a must-have product you’ll be grateful to have when you need it most. Highly recommended. 🐰💚

My Bunny's Absolute Favourite
When my bunny was sick, our vet gave us plain critical care to feed her which she did not like. I decided to get this flavour to see if she would enjoy it better and boy did she ever. It smells far better than the plain critical care and she loved the taste of it. It made us have to give her the critical care that much easier. I definitely will keep it on hand in case we ever need it again.
