Does any size plate fit in the bottom or do I need to buy something especially for the stand?

Dear Mrs. M. E. Thompson,Thank you for your question. The base diameter on this stand is 240mm for a plate.I hope this helps.Best regards.

hello, up to how many skewers can fit on each stand?

Both us and our friends only put one skewer on each stand. You could put more than one on, maybe three max, but we find one skewer per person is adequate

Are 35cm/ 14inch skewers too long?

14inch skewers are the perfect size for these stands and the stands are very sturdy, enjoy.
