I think it would. I use mine to empty a large hot tub and its got a lot of power. don't forget to buy a hose and jubilee clips as it doesn't come with them.

Q: Can this pump run continuously? I would like to use it for aquaponics garden.

Probably yes. However we use it to pump dirty water from a septic tank into a dipersal pipe. The pump operates in a restricted area so the float doesn't always go down. We switch it on and off twice a week. In an unrestricted area i.e. a pond, allowing the float plenty of room, it should be OK.

Q: How does this pump work with the lay z spa hot tubs?

We brought this for a pond not hot tub so don't know sorry
