Got this as a gift for my roommate and it arrived on time and with everything intact, the quill looks even more beautiful in person. Well worth the price. Side note: buy ink with this, it doesn't come with it's own.

It's exactly what I hoped it would be. No negative surprises.

Others have mentioned that the medallion stabs into their hands while writing, and I found that to be the case also. I have very small hands, so I was hoping it wouldn't be an issue, but it still was.Beyond that, 4 out of the 5 nibs that are included had a larger diameter than the one that comes already in the pen. They did not fit properly, so I couldn't use them.Having said all that, this pen is BEAUTIFUL, so if you just want it for decoration, I fully recommend it.Edit: I worked with the seller and they helped resolve the nib problems. Now all I have to do is pop off the leaf detail and I will be able to use my new pen comfortably.

I will start by saying the pen is beautiful, the quality seems goods enough, and it writes pretty well. However, perhaps I should have done a little more research before purchasing this. I was looking for a "quill pen" to try to start writing for fun. This is not the pen to use if you're looking to write more than a few words/letters. The position of the decorative leaf is very inconvenient and was stabbing part of my hand so I pulled it off within 10 minutes of writing. The metal part of the pen is also much shorter than I had anticipated and is difficult to hold comfortably because my hands runs into the feather. This brings me to another point: I'm not sure if mine is an error in manufacturing, but I can't insert the nibs in the position where the feather runs along with my hand, instead the feather is perpendicular with my hand which, again, is uncomfortable.I think this set is really only good if you're looking for a "showpiece." If you're interested in writing with a dip pen, search for a dip pen instead. I wish I had known this before purchasing.

Bought for daughter who loves Harry Potter. I overlooked the description and didn't realize that no ink came in the jar, but that was my mistake. The quill works fine and she is having fun writing letters from Hogwarts.
