Brilliant piece of cooking kit.
Fantastic piece of kit. I've had the smaller version for years and it's brilliant. Lid is a good fit and a fairly even thickness of metal. Very heavy do great for a base set up.

Great product. Have it some extra seasoning and test ...
Great product. Have it some extra seasoning and test fired it with a stew. Worked a treat. Enough for three to four people to eat well from. Will order the bigger size as well. Very pleased with my purchase and great value too. Also, lid fits perfectly which was a worry for me prior to purchase.

Poor quality control
Poor quality and quality control. I did not even finish unpacking it when I noticed a manufacturing defect, there was a 2 inch crack in the inside of the bottom of the pot. It had been sealed by the pre-seasoning (and it didn't go all the way to the other side although it was noticeable from below). This is an unacceptable defect for an item that is going to be used at high temperatures!I unpacked it all to check the general quality and although it seems acceptable and would be perfectly useable if it had not had the crack, it is clearly not very precisely casted... even with no defects should be cheaper.I had to return it just minutes from receiving it!

Poor quality castings of uneven thickness... rough in finish, and the lids don't fit properly.
The Ronnie Sunshines brand of Dutch ovens are poorly made. I cannot recommend them. The castings are not good, having the following faults. They are roughly finished inside and out, appearing to be straight from crude sand casting. This means the lids cannot seal properly as required of a good Dutch oven. Neither have the mating surfaces been "ground in" at all, that part of the process having been omitted altogether. Matters are made worse by the fact that the lids also rock, because they are somewhat distorted. Moreover, a good Dutch oven has a casting that is of consistent thickness around its whole diameter. This is important for eveness of cooking, especially when baking. Unfortunately, sometimes Ronnie Sunshines ones are so unevenly cast, with one side nearly twice as thick as the other, that they don't even hang level from the wire bail.Ronnie Sunshine's Dutch ovens are relatively cheap in UK, much cheaper than American Lodge ones for instance, but they cannot be recommended, not by me at any rate! The griddles and skillets made by Ronnie Sunshines are similarly roughly finished, but it matters a good deal less with those items, because there are no parts that need to fit together.I have two had two Ronnie Sunshines 4 litre Dutch ovens. The first one arrived slightly cracked. Neither of the two lids I now have fits the replacement Dutch oven any better than the other.

packaging was good. Product was good
It arrived on time, packaging was good. Product was good....However as a historical re enactor I chose this Dutch Oven because it had a plain lid with no makers name cast on it. (as in the picture) but the one we received had a makers name on it. So not impressed!!

Nice quality and heavy
I’m new to these pots but this seems very well made and sturdy. Comes with a nice fabric bag/carry case. So far done a nice casserole over a fire and it cooked really well.

Get it and go camping
Having read most of the reviews good and bad, I decided to to purchase this Dutch oven. I also ordered the 5 piece set in the wooden crate. They all arrived direct from Ronnie Sunshine less than 48 hours after ordering. They arrived in perfect condition, the lids fitted perfectly with no rocking or gaps. I must say the 8ltr pot is huge, ideal for cooking for a big group. There is 11 of us who go camping together 6 adults and 5 young children we cooked over charcoal briquettes. We all had second helpings and still had enough for another large serving, when full this pot is very heavy. 4ltr would be ideal for a family of 4-5. On the whole I am very pleased with my Ronnie Sunshine products and have cooked several different things. Bread comes out perfectly. Remember to clean and season the pots after use or they will rust.
