Sanzo Wada (1883-1967) was an artist, teacher, costume and kimono designer during a turbulent time in avant-garde Japanese art and cinema. Wada was ahead of his time in developing traditional and Western influenced colour combinations, helping to lay the foundations for contemporary colour research. Based on his original 6-volume work from the 1930s, this book offers 348 color combinations, as attractive and sensuous as the books own design. Review: Small but mighty resource to spark design ideas. - I have really enjoyed this book. I bought it for my personal/professional use. I am not an artsy person, and this book helps with ideas of what colors go together. I use the ideas when I choose colors for presentations, or personal decoration. I love the japanse culture and their efficiency, and minimalist combinations, yet very beautiful. I enjoyed that the book is not cluttered with visuals. It is more of a methodical design. It is a small book. I wish it was larger to appreciate the colors better. Review: Making Color Feel Less Intimidating - I’ve always been scared to use color. I tend to stick with what I know because I’m never really sure what colors are going to look good together. I bought this book because I wanted to get out of that habit and just experiment more. I like that it gives me actual color combinations to look at instead of me trying to guess what works. It’s made me more willing to try colors I probably would have normally stayed away from. I’m definitely still learning, but I feel like I’m starting to understand color a little better and, more importantly, I’m not as afraid of getting it “wrong.” If you’re like me and tend to play it safe with color, this is a really helpful book for getting some inspiration and building confidence.

Cool book would recommend if you are interested in color combinations.
Interesting book, struggling to actually apply the color combinations to my wardrobe but it is definitely cool to see the variety of color combinations.

Elevating your color combination choices.
This small paperback book is amazing. The first few pages are in Japanese, however about 95% of the book contains several tasteful color combinations. These combinations are very useful for decisions involving decorating, outfits, and paint (also art projects). I recommend this book.

Open your color world
This little book will give you infinite options on color coordination. I first ordered this book for clothing color combination ideas because I was stuck in neutrals. I wanted to add a pop of color. This book gave me options of color combinations that I already had in my closet, just never realized it. It’s great for outfit ideas but it will also be useful in home decor ideas or even painting palette ideas. I love this book!
