Will this unit pick up mold?

A qualified yes. This unit picks up micro particles. Mold is one such micro particle. The presence of micro particles varies substantially during 24 hours. The count becomes much larger during early morning and evenings when the temperature is changing and when there is activity in the house. My experience is that the best indications of mold comes from the quiet time of day or night. Hence, I use the Dylos to get hourly averages over 24 hours.My house had visible mold. The early readings were between 100 and 400. Then I applied several mold reduction methods: Mold KillerTM, HEPA filter in the furnace, and running fans with HEPA filters taped on in the rooms with the highest counts. Together, these approaches have substantially reduced but not eliminated the presence of mold as indicated by before and after measurements with the Dylos.The bottom line is that a single reading won't tell you much. When you do 24-hour comparative readings throughout your house you can get a good idea of the mold content.

Would this detect particles when using a 3d printer?

It will respond to any increase in number of particles. I don't know what the 3D printer emits, but it can tell when my air filter is on.

Does this monitor Keeps separate counts of both small particles (0.5 microns to 2.5 microns) and large particles??

Yes, though I think the .5 to 2.5 micron range is only for the pro version. For mine, small particles are 1-5 microns, large is > 5.
