I would like to use it in a fermentation pot, if it's heavy enough. Thank you** A: I can't weigh mine, as I dropped it last week and broke it. Haven't yet ordered another. However, it must have been heavier than a metal one I got, which weighs 35 g but isn't heavy enough to rattle loud enough to be heard unless you're right near it. Perhaps the sellers could tell you. If the weight is critical, it might be worth finding out how much the Pyrex version weighs. It's more expensive but might be heavier: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Pyrex-450B0005040-Classic-Milk-Watcher/dp/B000UO7GHQ **Q: Is this food grade glass. ie. no hidden nasties lead etc.** A: Maybe I am too trusting but there are laws these days about "adulteration" of products used for food, e.g. saucepans **Q: Can I use this product in a microwave?** A: Why not? It’s glass and you microwave things in glass bowls ... so no problem... **Q: can this be used to stand a pudding basin on when steaming a pudding** A: No, it is meant to alert you that a liquid starts to boil by rattling. It is not flat enough to put a pudding bowl over it steadily. ## Frequently Bought Together - Metaltex Pot Watcher Boil Alarm Alert - Stainless Steel Pot Watcher – Prevent Pasta, Soups and Milk from Boiling Over - Pot Minder - Stainless Steel Pot Watcher Disc - Boil Over Preventer for Milk - Boil Control Disc for Kitchen Pots, 2 Pcs --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.jp/products/48679283-metaltex-glass-milk-saver-boil-boiling-water-alert-pan-pot](https://www.desertcart.jp/products/48679283-metaltex-glass-milk-saver-boil-boiling-water-alert-pan-pot) --- *Product available on Desertcart Japan* *Store origin: JP* *Last updated: 2026-11-02*
