Q: Will the alarm go on even if I don't turn my generator on?

This alarm is totally unrelated to the generator, so it doesn’t matter if the generator is running or not. The wire (probe) at the end is wrapped around one of the service lines coming into the panel and when the utility power comes on, it senses the electromagnetic field that is generated when the line is energized and triggers the alarm. I will tell you that the alarm is loud, but if the breaker panel is located a distance away from the living space, you might not hear it. Mine is in the garage in the basement and I could barely hear it on the 1st floor and not at all on the 2nd floor. I tried this similar item “Reliance THP108 PowerBACK! Mains Return Alarm” and I can hear this throughout the house. It is a little more money, but for my needs much better, since if you can hear the alarm, what good is it.

Q: Can this unit be adjusted to only chime when the voltage is over 60 volts

To my knowledge there are no adjustments that can be made

Q: Does this device have a light idication that goes along with the sound?

A little green lite says that its activated... If the red one, the battery is low. The piercing sound is all! No flashy lites! But good idea!
