Fine, fine netting that's a bit awkward to handle. Ultimately very effective and nearly invisible.
This netting was purchased to keep persistent swallows from trying to nest in the eaves of our home. I expected a slightly heavier netting to arrive but once I began to use it it began to grow on me.This netting is VERY fine and easily gets caught on things and you must take care not to allow it to tangle. In regards to the tendency to tangle I think the manufacturer could have packaged it a little better (like on a spool) or provided some guidance on how to best handle it. However, with a little practice and care I've found it very effective. The best part is you really don't see it unless you are within 10 feet or so. So if you care about the look of your home while dealing with nuisance birds, this stuff is for you.

Lethal to birds
These nets appear to have absolutely no research value and their only purpose would be to kill birds, not capture them. They are 0.08 mm (extremely thin) monofilament nylon with 15x15 mm mesh. They are so thin that if a bird was to hit them and become entangled, the material would almost certainly cut the bird and it is not durable enough for someone to actually untangle the bird from the net. The material is extremely light and it seems that instead of dropping into a trammel (there are none), the bird would only continue to entangle itself and likely cut itself. I do not see any research value in these items and suggest that their only purpose is to kill birds. It appeared to me that this is far worse than even the "bird netting" sold at garden stores which at least has a smaller mesh size. The 15x15 mm can easily entangle a head or wing of most songbirds. I have reported them to the USFWS and State Wildlife Agencies.

Improper marketing - not for pest control
This product is being incorrectly marketed and will entrap wild birds and without proper training will likely lead to bird injury or death. In the US, most species of native wild birds are protected through Federal Regulation. Use other appropriate methods to protect your crops, etc. These nets should be used by individuals who are trained and have obtained appropriate permits. The person using this netting to protect eaves should likely have use wire mesh at the point of entry. Groups selling these nets and marketing in this way are setting customers up to be in violation of federal law.

Product kills native bird species
This product is being incorrectly marketed by the seller as a net to protect structures, plants, etc. In reality it is a special type of net called a mist net which is designed specifically for scientific research. If you use this product outside it will most likely capture and kill birds if they are not removed immediately. Killing native bird species in the United States is illegal under federal law. Do not buy this product.

This product will kill birds
In most places this product is only available to trained biologists working to catch birds. It should not be used to protect plants/buildings from birds, as it will catch and cause their deaths. Use a thicker mesh so the birds can see it if you want to put netting out. Shame on the seller for misrepresenting what their product will do!
