A superb Arbutus fountain pen. Features Iridium German tip, unique and eye catching woven steel shaft, heavy metal base with secure screw off cap. The pen measures 145mm closed and 166mm open including the cap. It is nicely weighted and a pleasure to write with. Uses standard refills available from high street stationers. Size: - 145mm closed. - 166mm open with the cap on back. - 133mm open without cap. Weight: - 41 grams. - 29 grams without the cap. Supplied brand new with box, case and cartridge. The pen takes the standard and widely available International Size cartridge. For those who prefer bottled inks please note that this pen may not be suitable for use with a converter. Review: Stylish - Brought as a gift and delighted with the style & quality. Review: Good Looking, but hard to live with. - I purchased the pen as a replacement for a very similar styled pen and was initially very pleased with the overall look and feel of the pen. It is quite heavy, and I would definately use this with the cap off the back of the pen to reduce the weight. I can't say I was over impressed with the weave pattern which was just a tight tinned weave similar to that found in coaxial cables. However it does add to the style of the pen, and I guess was what attracted me to the pen in the first place. I gave this a one star rating because the writing ability of this pen is so bad. It is scratchy, and has intermittant ink flow at all times. I am aware that fountain pens can be a little sensitive to paper types, so I carried out tests on all sorts of paper, but to no avail, it didn't perform well on any. I did persevere to try and get the pen to bed in, but in the end I had to accept defeat and return the pen. I replaced it with a Parker of slightly less cost, and the difference is amazing with no ink flow problems on any papers I have tried.
