Hell Divers VII: Warriors: Hell Divers Series, Book 7

~~The frosting on the cake....~~
Hell Divers VII...what can I say about this novel? Thrilling, full of action, well developed characters, and a plot that has many layers. I have read all of Mr. Smith's books and for me, this is his best yet. Familiar characters such as King Xavier, Magnolia, Les, Michael and a few more contribute to this powerful story.A couple of items that contributed to my love of this novel. The first is that the author manages to bring the reader to a point where you are sure you know what the outcome will be...Well, the reader will be wrong as he has a 'twisty-turny' in the plot for you to absorb. Also, the reader is familiar with the characters from the previous books and we are truly invested in them....hook, line and sinker. Their faults, their strengths and their weaknesses. We love them... This book is the frosting on the cake, indeed. If you don't shed a tear or two at the end, I will be surprised. Super ending and the story is wrapped up expertly. As we say in the US Navy....no gear adrift and no Irish pennants on your uniform to get a demerit. No demerits for Mr. Smith...not even a fraction of one. Most highly recommended and for multiple reasons. Extremely well done...

Wow! What more can I say?
Wow! This story kept me from putting it down with all the action taking place! It took several twists and turns - and, I didn't see much of what was happening coming at all... Whew!Nicholas Sansbury Smith created an epic ending to such a great series! I really HATE to see it end as X, Miles, Michael, Les, and the others are like old friends... and we were introduced to a new friend Jojo! Here, the story is wrapped up neatly in the end... though I am still wondering what will happen to our friends! This series has been quite thrilling from beginning to end; the action keeps on right until the end. I found this a very enjoyable series and book. It takes us on a different path of post apocalyptic stories - one where despite all the gloom, there is still hope. Too, the characters are memorable in that they are very real. They rise to the occasion when it is needed - sometimes, they even surprise themselves with their courage! This is a fitting end to this series! While I was given an ARC, I am freely expressing my opinion. I bought a copy for myself as well as for others who would enjoy this type of story to support the author. Wow! You need to read it! Well done, Nick!

Great series to read, quality printing, and timely delivery
I have thoroughly enjoyed reading this series so far. I like post-apocalyptic sci-fi, but too often they devolve into gore, horror, or worse a trash novel. This series keeps the action, creatures, and relationships engaging without turning it into something you feel uncomfortable reading. The action is fast paced and you care about the characters. There is also plenty of things to keep your imagination running. I highly recommend this series if you like this genre and ordering from Blackstone directly through Amazon was quick and the books came in excellent condition.

Peace but at a Price
Nicholas Smith has hit another home run with Hell Divers VII, Warriors. A real page-turner, this exciting novel has mutant monsters and enemies in the form of thinking machines and the skin walkers plus palace intrigue and plot twists.A familiar character, former Commander, King Xavier “X” Rodriguez, a protagonist from previous Hell Divers books, plays the major role in this book. As an old guy who served 30 years in the Army, I understand the burden of command he faced daily. The characters are complex and fully developed. The author displays exceptional insight into how leaders handle crises as King Rodriguez has to weigh the welfare of the many against the lives of the few as he strives to keep the peace between the Cazadores (Spanish for hunters) and the sky people. As a Vietnam veteran, I appreciated how the author employs vivid imagery and realistic scenes of combat as the Hell Divers fight off enemies in a classic example of the struggle of good versus evil. The author includes several perceptive statements and quotes:- “…accept the past without regret and face the future without fear…” Sage advice for us all.- “Love is kind. It does not envy…” Great verse from I Corinthians 13.I was impressed by the way the author concluded HD VII. It can either be the satisfying conclusion to an epic series or the prologue to additional adventures and challenges. I hope it is the latter.

This book has everything, love, war and survival. It shows prejudice overcome and the will to survive, thrive and work together for the new world! Now from their rest and repairs they get a minute to remember their losses and build hope with the new life that has arrived! What will threaten their new world now? Please give us another book or three??? Please?!?

Wow
Both a thrilling conclusion to many plot arcs, and a reminder that our character’s woes aren’t over.It is, perhaps, easy to forget in the face of the immediate threats to the characters – The Defects, the Skinwalkers, the Sirens and all the other problems our characters have to face, that the world of Hell Divers is perhaps the most hostile and unforgiving villain. As brutal as any of the above may be to the characters, a breath of unfiltered air would kill them far more painfully. This book ties up many of the plot arcs which have built to a thrilling crescendo over the series. I won’t go into spoilers. But as ever with NSS’s books, you can’t guarantee on character’s you’ve followed for several books remaining alive, or even intact. This harsh world will kill you fast, but it is just as happy to take you piece by piece. Literally. The measure of the characters is that they don’t give up. Even facing insurmountable odds and enemies that revel in a brutality which would make most shut down in fear. Yet they are not blind to the horrors they are facing either. They know full well to fight against their enemies will result in a quick death, if they’re lucky. And worse if not. And they fight anyway. As mentioned, many of the antagonist driven plotlines are dealt with by the end of the book. But that still leaves the question of, “What now?” And that is the hook into the next book. Enough hints are seeded into both give hope, and a flavour of the challenges ahead. Our characters have won the wars, at bitter cost. Now, how can they win the peace? And as we know from our experiences in the Middle East, that is the most important question.

6 out of 5
Wished it never ended, the concept of a hell diver in a post apocalyptic world is awesome (would make a great movie) all 7 books were a brilliant on the edge of my seat, action filled reads and I really hope Nicholas keeps going with this idea but I really don't know how you would top this... Thanks for the hours of entertainment...

Awesome
Mr. Smith,I have only enjoyed a series of characters, story lines, themes.... I'm not good at writing what I mean. You were suggested to me and I've never been more overwhelmed. Please, please continue the story.I'm a caregiver, and work full-time in a very difficult world. Your stories are brutal, hard... but are escapism beyond believe. Thank you.
