No doubt: this product is rock solid but installing was a pain in the rear end. Trying to access the nut underneath the fender was extremely hard to do. I had to remove the plastic tabs to move the grill forward to gain more room to work. After cussing a lot, I got both sides done. The passenger side was not aligned correctly so it seemed to be stuck in the lock position. I called the company for help but they were of no help. "I never heard of this." Another person, "You need to make a video in order to be covered by warranty." Instead, I took over to my local Jeep dealer. It took two mechanics to open up the passenger side latch.Now, both latches are working fine. I would give five stars for the product itself but one star for the installation aspect and the technician phone advise. Therefore, I gave a three star overall rating.

We bought this based on the reviews. We should have read ALL the reviews. I had to do some serious grinding to one of the latches in order for it to fit. I put my grinder to use. Pic 1 shows the untouched side. Pic 2 shows the side we had to modify. Also the latches are much bigger than expected. So much that I actually have to grab the entire hood and pull it the opposite direction when I’m closing it so it doesn’t damage the paint. We bought this before a big trip so I had to modify it. Otherwise I would have returned it.

I installed a set of these on my wife's JK right after she bought it for added security. For the first year they worked well. Then one of them got stuck, fortunately in the unlocked position, and we could no longer lock that side. I emailed Rampage numerous times to ask if there was something I could do to fix it. Never a reply. I have come to the conclusion that they do not care about customer service after the sale and once they have your money you no longer exist.These things also look more like something that belong on a set of Samsonite luggage than a Jeep but it's my wife's Jeep and she doesn't seem to mind. However, buyer beware if you ever have a problem with a Rampage product and you need customer assistance.

These were a little tricky to install. Prior users have commented about the inadequate isolation bumpers and that is completely true. Fortunately I had a piece of heavy rubber sheet to augment. Another small glitch was that on one latch, the hinge pin was barely retained by the housing because of a casting defect. I had to very carefully bend the cast housing together using a protected vice. You must take the time to align each latch to ensure that the hood locks down evenly - this is trial and error. When you latch the hood it is best to position each latch and make the final closure simultaneously. If you take your vehicle in for service you should point out these latches to the technician. If you don't it is possible that the hood could be closed with the latches in the way, which will result in instant damage to your hood.A little more engineering and this will be a 5-star product.Once I got them installed they worked great. No more hood flutter or worries about my battery walking off.

This Rampage Locking Hood Catch holds my hood very securely, if a bit tight. I never had any problems with my hood fluttering at any speed or any indication the OEM hood catches might not hold the hood down. I purchased this product so there will be no worries that someone could steal my battery. Honestly, having to retrofit a locking mechanism for the hood, gas cap (I bought a barricade locking fuel door too!) and possibly/eventually door hinge locks is absolutely ludicrous for a $38K vehicle such as my 2014 Rubicon Unlimited!!! This product requires a just a little tweaking to close evenly on both sides of the hood. Yes, it's quite a tight fit, but appears to keep the hood from any and all movement. When I pull the lever down to lock the hood clamps, I have to slow down the movement so the clamp doesn't bang the metal/paint. Once it's locked and seated properly, there is no contact with the surface of the vehicle. Overall, it does what it advertises. I gave it four stars in case any problems arise in the future due to the very tight fit, but then again, a product deserves a five star rating only if there is absolutely nothing unusual with the product AND the install is trouble-free.

Awesome locks/catches. Keeps my hood securely latched, and the in the Texas breeze, that means a lot when zipping down the toll road at 80 MPH. Because it holds the hood down so well, the vehicle handling itself in the wind has improved greatly, and the front end doesn't seem "nervous" anymore. With the locking mechanism, they won't pop loose, and keeps ner' do wells from tampering. They are a quite snug fit, and do take some installation finessing to get installed just right. The left side was a particular pain, as I had to use u-joints and extensions to get a socket wrench up in there on the body mounted part. Nothing to do with these latches, but everything to do with how Jeep designed the system and everything around it.

I liked the design for two reasons. It locked the hood and it stopped the hood from jumping around when on the highway.Installation took a little dexterity to get the nuts started but its doable.Would have been 5 stars if there wa a bit more adjustment in the latch to allow a larger gap between the hood and fender. When the alignments were complete, I noticed that when it was latched it pulled the hood down so far that there was metal to metal contact with the fender / hood. I could not adjust the latch to allow for a larger gap. (even loosening the mounting screws). My solution was to use a piece of 1/4" thick self adhesive foam tape and put a small piece at the contact point on each side.It works, its not that bad to install, just could have used a little more adjustment. Overall satisfied and would recommend (and purchase again for future Jeeps).

I was very pleased with the quality and appearance of the latches. They look as though they were installed and a part of the hood from the factory. The latches are heavy duty and well built and hold the hood very steady and does not bounce around on the highway any longer like the rubber straps did that came on the Jeep. They weren't cheap but were worth the money. I would rather pay once for good quality than having to purchase and install 2 or 3 cheaper latches and end up paying the same amount in the end. Great product and would highly recommend them to anyone wanting to replace the factory rubber straps.

Great purchase to replace the cheap oem hood latches on the Jeep Wrangler. Quality product and great that it has a locking mechanism so that the insides are not susceptible to thieves and others that might want to take advantage. Solid hood latches that also keep your hood locked down so that highway winds and speed do not turn it into a bouncing ball. I did research and this is the cheapest that I was able to find in Canada. Great product and great seller!

Original bottom latch has one bolt with two side prongs to fit in body of Jeep. The rampage hasp only has a bolt to fit into Jeep body and does not have the two locating pins that original Jeep latch has. This leaves two holes exposed in the Jeep body when you put the Rampage hasp on to body. Fit is tight. Had to leave two latch halves in furthest extended position on slots possible. This was for a 2015 Jeep Rubicon so don't believe that it should be much different on other stock Jeep models. Latches work but have to really work at getting one side to unlatch. Was hoping for something that was a direct fit and not something to have to play around with.

nothing to dislike about this hood locking device. only thing is I drive a stock 2015 jeep. and there's not much room to play but it fits. if you get any mods done that rases the fender flares from the stock area this item will not fit. I love this product and it was an easy install for me.
