Congregations Must Change
Rendle provides the voice of reason that speaks from experience with great wisdom. Others have revealed the problems the church is facing but few have provided guidance for leaders that is as valuable and practical as this book.

Great, practical read
I chose this rating because I highlighted so many steps, it became like a workbook. Maybe that is what the author should do? Good read for any pastor facing challenges in their congregation.

Leading Change in the church
This is an easy read, but not so easy to do all that is suggested. Of course it is not easy to change a congregation, nor should it be, but this had some helpful suggestions.

Excellent work
None of this was new - it all is previously published - but the presentation refreshes the concepts in a way that makes them readily applicable. This is a great tool for congregational leadership in all situations

A Very Insightful Volume
If you're looking for an experienced leaders insights into the differences between managing and leading a church this is a very helpful book. Rendle utilizes just enough practical examples to illustrate his points without saturating the reader with his experiences as some writers tend to do in order to prove their knowledge.I found some of the suggested 'learning activities' lacked depth for the community I lead, but substituting other equally good exercises would not be that difficult. The consistent return to the theme that leadership and management are not the same; as well as leadership requiring a great deal of consistent and constant effort was very helpful. The final caveat that made the book worthwhile for me was the persistent though not overbearing return to scripture in support of the leadership principles.I would encourage congregational leaders who are shepherding their church through change (who isn't?) to add this resource to their library.
