24Genetics - DNA Ancestry Test Kit - 1000+ Regions Worldwide - Genetic Testing - Includes at-Home Swab Collection kit

I purchased this for my mother for her birthday. I got it because it said in the description it was a swab test and not spit. That was very important as my mom has dry mouth. It was more expensive but thought it was worth it. The kit got here and it was a spit. She was not able to use the more expensive kit because of misinformation!!!!

I bought this DNA Ancestry test after researching most DNA offerings in the market. 24Genetics was the most expensive analysis of its kind but it seemed to be the best one due to their vast worlwide genetic markers. The report arrived 3 months later, after the test was delivered to 24Genetics, and after several emails pressuring them for the results. The study itself seems Ok if you look my european ancestry information. It made complete sense with the information I had of my different ethnic ancestors. Of course, some surprises appeared of other ethnic groups of the Middle East and Baltic ancestors that I was not aware of. Very enriching and interesting information. What I found very disapointing is that my family has been living for 200 years in Ecuador and 24Genetics was not able to identify this country in their reports. I have a family tree that goes back to 1710 in Ecuador, South America and 24Genetics seems NOT to have markers for Ecuadorian natives as I appeared as 0% Ecuadorian. In exchange I appear as having a percentage of Peru and a much smaller percentage of Colombian, but not Ecuadorian. I can live with that result since ethnic groups may be similar.... but be aware that they do not have world wild markers in regional detail or even at country detail. I think they are good in Europiean regions and specially in Spanish regions but if you are South American you are at risk. Their Amazon offering assures you a DNA Raw file with your genotype so you can upload in other webistes and obtain free an paid results from other companies. Their website mentions GedMatch. I asked for their RAW files to its friendly customer service team. I got quick answers but the RAW did work after 7 trial and error process and 3 weeks in order to generate an error free RAW file that can be read in GedMatch. I have tried to upload this file into other platforms such as MyHeritage, Genomelink, Genomapp and the file was not recognized or did not work. My advise is to purchase a more popular Ancestry DNA test such as 23andme, Ancestry or NAT Geo. I think that with these companies you may obtain good information, perhaps not as detailed, but more confident on the data and with the integrity of the RAW file.
