Positively Tea, Organic Irish Breakfast Black Tea, Loose Leaf, 16 Ounce

Excellent tea with a robust aroma and flavor. I wanted to get away from using tea bags in order to avoid microplastics. This tea was exactly what I was looking for!

I have been enjoying tea from the Organic Positively Tea Company for probably about two years now. I am sticking with this company for three reasons. First, I find their teas particularly strong and clear - never stale, never dull, never over dried. Second, the delivery has been 100% reliable. Third, the price is competitive: i never feel it’s overpriced or overhyped. In short, Organic Positively Tea Company gives me very good value for my shrinking dollar.

I bought this tea in an effort to find an organic replacement for my beloved Barry's Gold Blend tea, after learning that Barry's (and nearly all the large tea companies) have plastic in their tea bags. When I read one of the Amazon reviews saying this tea was being used as a Barry's replacement, I gave it a go. CONCLUSION: Not bad at all, but also not Barry's. PRO: The tea's flavor profile is very strong and good, with noticeable and enjoyable tannins, and a nice dark brew color (I make my tea strong and drink it with milk, the way nature intended). CON: But those of you looking for a Barry's tea fix (probably some ex-pats or health nuts like myself), be warned: it does NOT taste like Barry's. It is extremely floral, and even reminiscent of an earl gray tea. It will not give you that Proustian effect some Irish tea drinkers get from Barry's, as sadly, it will not instantly transport you in your mind to a table in a cold Irish kitchen, the sound of rain, and soft light in through the window. That said, this tea isn't bad by any stretch. It's very easy to drink, and stands up very well on its own merits. It is easily in the "nice tea I got at the health food store" variety--it's not too expensive; the bag is large, and I expect it'll last a long time; and the tea is organic and brews well. Just don't expect it to be something it's not, and you'll enjoy it.

We never thought anything could beat our beloved Barry's Gold, but wanted to try to find an organic substitute. Much to our delight, this is similar in flavor profile but even better! This just tastes fresher and a little cleaner somehow, but still with the basic taste we love for a good black, breakfast-style tea. We just put in a scant teaspoon per cup plus one for the pot, let it steep for 3 minutes, and it makes a good strong black tea. We both drink it with a little milk or cream, and my wife adds a touch of honey. Delicious! We are on our 3rd bag in probably 5 months so the bags last a long time. We still love it just as much for our afternoon pot of tea (or sometimes two pots!) as when we tried our first cup. We think the price is reasonable for the high quality, large quantity, and sturdy, easy to reseal packaging. Can't recommend the Irish Breakfast tea highly enough. We also have bought the Jasmine green tea from this company on amazon, and it is also delicious, when you want something lighter. If you love tea, this company is great!

Go loose leaf, bags are full of garbage. This will get you a premium cup of tea, for a non-premium price. The Irish breakfast is full on flavor and you're sure to enjoy it at any time of the day.

I drink a lot of tea. When it comes to black tea, I usually prefer strong teas with no added flavors. I've had lots of Irish Breakfast tea before, so I know what to expect. I knew something didn't smell right when I opened the bag. When I steeped the tea, my whole kitchen began to smell of flowers and citrus. I do not like floral teas, and react allergically to some of them. Some are even made with flowers and extracts that are not at all safe for human consumption in higher amounts, so I avoid them. It's possible they had some really bad tea and tried to cover up the flavor, but I really hope this was a mistake, because I like other teas from this company. It's worth noting that this is not a returnable item, so there's no recourse. I was looking forward to this but now it's going in the trash.
