Does anyone know how wide the blade is?** A: I have measured the width of cut of the wood blade in chipboard and it is between 1 and 2 mm. I guess you could achieve 2 mm groove with multiple passes and minor adjustment of the guide. This tool is quite suitable for grooving as it is a plunge tool, with appropriate depth of cut adjustment. Firstly, it makes a nice change for the case it comes in to have enough room along with the blades etc to get the lead back in without ending up trying to tuck it in and lean on the lid while you fasten it so good marks for that. the instructions are line drawings with a bit of a (small) text guide near the back of the booklet, but as usual could have been a little clearer re the spindle lock for changing the blades but that was easy enough to figure out. At 2kg this is really light compared to the normal saws and feels easy in the hand, at 400watts it also does not "buck" in the hand when you start it so it should not scare you to death with a great dollop of torque! that said it did make me wonder if it had enough power so tested it with the HSS blade for a finer cut on a one inch piece of hardwood, taking it steady, it cut easily and cleanly. As usual the mark on the guide plate is a bit wooley but a bit of getting to know it better should present no problems. So no major issues so far, it is light easy to handle, pretty tame but does the job. The reason for the four stars is the "dead mans" switch. it is simplicity itself to use but the orange toggle you press before the main switch on the handle does seem flimsier than it should be, I know this is made for the DIY'er but it will still get some rough use and I wonder if this part will last. It is all very well giving a three year (limited) warranty but really- who wants to have to go through the e mailing, packing and waiting for it to be repaired and then sent back?
