Agatha Christie's Poirot: The Hollow [DVD]

Suchet is Poirot
David Suchet is, for me, the definative Poirot. The neat, dapper sleuth who uses 'the little grey cells' instead of guns, and violence. The period settings are delightful. That era is beautifully portrayed and becomes real to us.The joy of these DVDs are that you get to see the whole film without interruption - NO COMMERCIALS! Consequently, the whole thing flows, logically.Well worth buying, keeping and watching again and again!

Different from the norm..............................
This movie starts out very like a regular Agatha Christie Poirot offering. However as the time goes on it becomes much darker and the hidden undertones produce a disturbing film.I am not the sort who blubbers at "sad bits", but I found this film very touching. The solution was a revelation. This is not a run-of-the-mill Poirot and is certainly worth watching. An Excellent film.A sad story.

The Hollow ' a great treatment for a less known novel
The book, is not in my opinion one of Christie's best, it is a formula that is recognizable to fans. However the latest films are making a huge impact on the way Christie is perceived as an author and all the films are now, murkier psychologically, than before, and concentrate on the emotional trauma of the murder. The Hollow as a novel is thin and predictable, but this film makes it beautiful, sparkling and emotionally exciting, better I think than the remake of Death on the Nile. Suchet and an equally eminent cast give these recent films the kick that these later novels deserve. Here all the cast are superb and completely brilliant, this is the one I rewatch the most.
