REAL Sandalwood
This is the real Mc Coy! This is REAL Santulum Album!!! Usually 99% of so called Sandalwood oils are not Santulum Album, but the totally unrelated Amyris. Also beware of the australian Santulum Spicatum, which does not have the same smell and properties.Even most oils sold as Santulum Album are faked these days, on Sri Lanka they chemically synthesize it!This "Absolute Aromas" oil is government approved real Mysoore Sandalwood oil. As soon as you open the bottle the typical warm and heavy smell, which is unlike everything else in the world, will enchant you.Since the death of Sandalwood smuggler Veerappan the prices have gone up by 300%, thus the "Absolute Aromas" price, which is only double than 6 years ago, is very reasonable.ATTENTION!!!This is an edditing of my first review:THERE IS A MISPRINT ON THE CARDBOARD BOX SAYING "SANTULUM SPICATUM", INSIDE ON THE LABEL OF THE BOTTLE YOU WILL FIND "SANTULUM ALBUM"!!!!!This has led another reviewer to the wrong statement that it is not Santulum Album, while in fact it is!!!I bought 4 bottles and they are all real Santulum Album!Absolute Aromas would actually commit a crime if it wasn't, since they state that it is from Mysoore and Government aproved. Santulum Spicatum originates in Australia, Santulum Album in Southern India!!!

Product description needs changing...
This is not sourced from India, with or without approval of the Mysore government - as per the product description. The bottle I received is in fact santalum austrocaledonicum, produced under licence from the Government of Vanuatu. There's a full description of why this is, giving details of the lack of sustainable sources in Mysore, in the leaflet I received with the product. As another reviewer explains in detail, if Indian sourced sandalwood oil is not sustainable and indeed contributes to unlicenced and illegal trading, then we shouldn't be buying it anyway. But the product description on Amazon should be changed to reflect where this product is actually sourced from.I can't give this essential oil a review as I haven't used it yet. The three stars therefore reflect the fact that the product description is misleading - but that the reasons for the change of source are understandable and ethical.

this is legit
I'm super happy with this, I've bought sandalwood essential oil from many different suppliers and this one is up there with the best ones. lovely, warm fragrance and high viscosity, and there's a full 5ml in the bottle (purportedly undiluted... I think I believe them?)

Santalum Austrocaledonicum NOT album as stated.
Its a good quality oil for the price. I have used this type of oil (another brand) before with excellent results. However the product description is misleading. I have had Santalum album before and it was beautiful but this is good enough (slightly sharper in smell than album) We should not fuel destruction, and encourage illegal logging of sandalwood trees. Absolute Aromas change your description before someone gets annoyed enough and reports you for misleading customers. Otherwise thank you for the lovely product.

Not Santulum album
From the first review I expected Santalum album but I got Santalum spicatum (as stated on the packaging). What should have I expected? The ad doesn't mention a species but the quoted source (Mysore, India) is the home of Santulum album (S. spicatum is native to Australia). The ad is unclear and maximum supplements need to be more precise in their product description to avoid disappointment. I will be querying the delivery and will update if appropriate.Update - I note that the reviewer I referred to above has updated their text to state that there was a mistake on the packaging and the reviewer is correct I don't appear to have Santalum spicatum; the bottle label states it is Santalum austrocaledonicum. Two labelling mistakes on one product? Perhaps they should rename it Santalum lotto.
