Beautiful Chinese Elm Bonsai 9 years
I am very happy with this Chinese Elm bonsai. It is healthy with abundant leaves and is very beautiful. It measured around 28 cm from the soil level to the tallest leaf - excluding the pot height. It arrived safely with the ceramic pot and drip tray in perfect condition and the earth had been watered and was moist on arrival with the tree looking hydrated. I look foward to many happy years of watching it flourish.

Beautiful
Lovely tree. Very well packed. Initially leaves were falling after the first couple of day till it settled and I fed it bonsai food. Now it is flourishing and growing loads of new shoots and needing to be trimmed. Very impressed.

the quality and the care that was taken for it to arrive safely. Incredible packaging.
we purchased a Bonsai tree from Amazon. It was delivered in good time and the packaging was remarkable, holding the plant rigidly in the box. we bought it as a gift for our son and he was delighted with it. best buy in ages.

Healthy, characterful tree — but arrives unfinished and had pests
The elm itself is good material: a genuine Chinese elm (Ulmus parvifolia) with a nice thick trunk, real movement, and healthy, dense foliage. It travelled well and was unstressed on arrival, and as a species it’s tough and forgiving. On the tree quality alone, I’m pleased with it. However, buyers should know how it arrives, because the potting fell short: • The tree was not tied/wired into the pot, so the rootball was loose and could rock (this shears the fine roots that take up water). • The drainage holes had no mesh over them. • It was in a dense, organic soil rather than proper free-draining bonsai substrate. • Mine also arrived with slugs and slug eggs in the soil. None of that is fatal for a hardy elm, and I remediated it myself — tied it down, meshed the holes, repotted into proper granular substrate and cleared the pests — but it’s more work than a beginner may expect, and the pests in particular aren’t acceptable. Would I recommend? For someone experienced who’s happy to sort the potting and check for pests on arrival, the underlying tree is genuinely good and worth having. Complete beginners expecting a finished, ready-to-go bonsai should manage expectations and be prepared to do some remedial work. Good tree, let down by the finishing and the pests.
