Anyone tried these strings on an electric/acoustic hybrid (e.g. Taylor T5z) with mag pickups?

Yes - I have a Fleetwood with a piezo AND a Lloyd Baggs, and the response is a little better because of them leaning towards nickel ...

are those strings the "smooth wounding" type (I don't know the proper name!)..? ie. the bass strings are less noisy when sliding fingers on them

No. They're standard wound strings. They are worth trying as they produce a lovely sound on my acoustic guitars

These strings say they are stronger. is the action tighter than other d'dario acoustic strings

I regard the D'Addario Nickle Bronze as one of the best set of strings. I use the 11/52 and the 10/47 Custon Light Guage on my Acoustic Guitars and on the Fender Strat, I use the excellent D'Addario NYXL. With either type you can play as Fearlessly as you please.. They are a quality set of strings for sound and clarity.
