This is a good, solid case to turn a hard disk into an external drive. It's easy to install the disk, then plug 'n play.For me, though, there was an unexpected bonus. The disk I used (my old laptop disk) had been rendered useless by the Windows 10 Anniversary Update in September 2016. All my data was lost - even my local computer shop could not access any of my files with their software. However, when I put the old disk into this case (expecting to format it) it showed various files already on the disk. The onboard Ennotek software must have bypassed the Windows 10 glitch. A few "file searches" later and all my lost data was recovered! Brilliant!

Very easy to use. Comes with a screwdriver to enable HDD installation and a spare screw just in case! USB 3 powered so there's no extra power supply. I'm using an old laptop drive, 500Gb, and it works like a charm.Transfer wise, I used it to store 15,000+ photos and in a USB 3 slot on my pc. It gave me a peak transfer of 85Mb per second, with an average rate of 50Mb per second. 19Gb of photo's transferred in a little over 4 minutes. Very pleased.

Nicely packaged with USB3 lead, screwdriver. manual, foam packing and spare screw. Used a Samsung HM250HI HDD with Mint 18.3 on for some simple tests:- Connected via SATA Booted in 1Mn16Sec, Connected via Novatech USB2 adaptor Booted in 1MN20Sec, Connected via Ennotek USB3 Booted in 1Mn16Sec. Works very well.

This enclosure is backwards compatible with USB 2.0. It does not say this in the advert. I fitted an older 2.5" Sata II Toshiba MK7550GSXF 750 GB into it and coupled it up to my 2011 Macbook Pro and it immediately worked. Naturally as expected it only transfers data at USB 2.0 because the Macbook only has this protocol.

Packed up after 3 years, new case much easier to add case too (no screwdriver required) so not feeling good about this casing.

Am now using my old PS4 hardrive as an external, after upgrading the internal to 2tb. I now have an extra 1tb external, all was recognised by my PS4 pro, and I have moved 100gigs of games over externally, which took 15mins.

I needed a well built reliable enclosure for an external SSD. This is provided with a USB cable and has been working flawlessly whilst connected to my music server.
