Hi. I'm looking for something to remove rust from a bike (chain etc) as well as protect it from rust. Will this remove rust? Thanks!

If it's just surface rust, from leaving the chain wet after a ride then if you lube it with GT85 and ride for a bit it will come off.  But if the chain has been left for months or years and is very rusty, it is beyond repair.  BTW, it depending how worn the chain, cassette and chain rings are, you may not be able to run a new chain without slipping or other issues.GT85 does disperse water, to applied to a wet chain it will protect from rust.  I then apply a dedicated chain lube once the chain is dry.

can you use GT85 on a motorcycle chain

GT85 is Teflon platelets suspended in a solvent base, you spray it on and the solvent evaporates basically leaving the item Teflon coated...
Whilst it technically SHOULD work, who knows what the solvent would do to your O-rings over time, thus shortening the lifespan of your chain.
Not worth the risk...

In what ways is this product worse or better than WD-40 for general DIY use?

I understand that this product will not dispense easily when wet, ie with water.I would not necessarily use GT 85 to loosen corroded nuts, bolts or screws for example.I use this for certain components on my bicycle, although not the chain.I hope this helps.RegardsJK
