Trainspotting [DVD] [1996]

I saw Trainspotting when it was first released at the cinema and have seen it on tv a couple of times since then but I bought a copy back in January to reacquaint myself with it before going to the cinema to watch T2.The film does not glamourise drug use. It is a realistic portrayal of heroin use. It does contain quite a lot of humour which reflects the reality that using drugs can be fun (otherwise people would not start to use them) but it certainly shows more of the downsides of drug usage and the devastating consequences on one's life and the terrible effects on those people around them.Although Trainspotting was made 20 years ago it has, in my view, aged very well. The issues it raises are, sadly, still very relevant in society today.Although this is not a review of T2 I would also thoroughly recommend that film and would certainly suggest that before seeing T2 one should see Trainspotting first as T2 is a sequel that I do not think would work well as a stand alone film as one needs to understand the journey the characters have been through to get to where they are in T2.The acting in Trainspotting is excellent, I would particularly note Jonny Lee Miller's Scottish accent which he kept throughout the making of the film and was so good that Ewen Bremner (Spud) was shocked to hear him speak with an English accent and discover he was not Scottish at the wrap party.An excellent film (of course contains very strong language and scenes of drug usage as one would expect with an 18 certificate).

I was under the impression that this film was actually about train spotting which is not one of my interests , this film is really interesting its about a group of young people who want more fun in there lives but realise their choices are not easy . It shows the highs and the lows of their experiences .I really enjoyed watching this film many years after it was made the nostalgia of the time added to my enjoyment , well worth a watch.

We need this film & this message right now.Choose life!Trainspotting: visceral, violent, relentless, real.You can find anything you want to fill the void - drama, junk food, drugs, furlough, Netflix, alcohol, sex, social media, safety, Government, conformity, compliance - but in the end you have to live or you die. You simply die.Choose life!

Really interesting to see what life was 20 years ago. Actors were outstanding and made the movie really funny and interesting.Highly recommend anyone to watch if they haven't.

Chose to buy this as I was due to watch the sequel. I think the last time I watched this was probably early 2000's (on vhs) and I'm glad I rewatched.The acting is brilliant and the characters are original and believable.I'd also forgotten how funny the film was, but it also carried a serious message about drugs and the consequences.Lastly it's got a quality soundtrack, I then spent a while looking for my old cds, unfortunately I can't find it so may have to buy that again as well.

I thought it was about trains

Highly accomplished tale of drug addicts and by far the best thing Ewan Mcgregor has ever done. It's a tightly knitted, poetic, horiffic and incredibly humorous depiction of people who have fallen into low life (which anyone can, given circumstances). The acting by everyone is absolutely superb and aptly glibly directed by of course Danny Boyle. I wish certain directors would take note of him; that to convey anything so grim as the stories within Trainspotting, one has to employ humour somewhere.

Purchased cheaply to view before watching the second installment (it had been a while). A 90's classic, that i was actually present at the filming of (outside the hotel once Renton leaves with the money) and it is still just as good to this day. Love the interviews with the director, producer and cast in the extras as they discuss the possibility of a second movie back in 2012 and what they would need it to work.

La película me encanta y me viene perfecto que esté hablada en un buen inglés y con subtítulos para aprender el idioma.

musste ich vergeben. Bei der Auswahl an "Trainspotting" Filmen ist jetzt passiert das ich eine DVD erhalten habe die NUR ja, "NUR" Englischen Text beeinhaltet! Eine Deutsche Tonspur ist nicht drauf! Kein Deutscher Untertitel Kein GAR NICHTS in DEUTSCH! Das hat mich sehr enttäuscht und habe diese möglichkeit gar nicht bedacht! Ich habe hier alle Produktrezensionen gelesen und es wurde lediglich bemängelt das die Englische Tonspur fehlt! Jetzt habe ich ein Exemplar erhalten welches KEINE DEUTSCHE SPUR enthält!!Habe den Film vor langer Zeit mal gesehen und dachte mir für den Preis kannst du nichts falsch machen.....aber naja,..... WER will denn bitte bei dieser Beschreibung wissen ob es sich um einen reinen Englischsprachigen Film handelt???? Der Film ist einmalig!
