Resident Evil 4 Remake (PlayStation 4)

Having played through the Resident Evil 4 several times, and unlocked a good portion of the bits and bobs, right out the gate I’ll say, it is really good. The graphics are great, sound is spot on, aesthetically it is on point, in terms of game play, it is more in line with RE2 and RE3 than the original RE4 IMO, although returning are the incapacitating shots that allow melee attacks, along with the additional knife parrying, and wear and tear on the knife, with additional knives being available as random drops, there are a wide variety of weapons that can be found, purchased in game from the merchant, and bonus weapons unlocked meeting certain criteria, all of which can be utilized to dispatch the wide variety of enemies and bosses. There is a long list of in game challenges to achieve, ranging from killing enemies with different weapons to beating the game under certain conditions, doing so awards points which can be used to unlock some cosmetic items, character models and concept art, along with said bonus weapons, assuming the unlocking conditions have been met. At this point Mercenaries Mode is available, which is fun, thus far there are four characters available, Leon, Luis, Krauser and Hunk, and three stages, The Village, The Castle and The Island, a little tip, complete all three stages with one S Rank will unlock the Handcannon Magnum for purchase, more easily rather than completing a Professional Difficulty run of the game without using any Bonus Weapons. Some elements from the original have been cut out, such as the heavy QTE situations, which I was pleased with, the U3 boss is also technically missing, which could be reworked into DLC, possibly Ada Wong’s Separate Ways DLC, which is likely coming soon. Overall I’d say it’s a good time for new and returning players "Hasta luego" LOL

An awesome game, one of the best resident evil games I have played and arrived in brilliant condition

After excitedly unwrapping the foil packaging after waiting through four years of rumours of whether or not that developers Capcom would actually remake Resi 4, here it was, I thought. Then as I opened up the case, I was a little bit disappointed because there isn't a thin game instructions booklet inside, but you do get in-game tutorials instead. So, after a long wait of downloading the game and the latest version, I began playing and the graphics are amazing even on the PS4. There are changes from the original, some subtle, and some moments that were jettisoned during the creative process to fashion this remake. I haven't played a Resi game since the sixth entry and the action here is definitely an improvement on the PS2 version as you can now move during combat. I'm grateful that the infuriating and deadly QTE moments are gone now and a missed button prompt doesn't equal messy insta-death! I hope that Capcom do bring back the "Separate Ways" Ada Wong mission soon as voice actress Lily Gao is a perfectly graceful and deadly delight as Ada. I was also impressed by how the Las Plagas villagers and villains seem to be considerably far more dangerous and wicked this time, but they've lost a bit of the bizarre quality of religious otherness that posed such a threat to Ashley and Leon in the original. Some action moments have even been improved, such as Mike's arrival - Mike's last mission before his retirement on his boat the Liv-4-Eva! So overall, this remake isn't perfect, it was definitely worth the long wait.

Great game, good graphics even on ps4 😀Also has a free game upgrade to ps5 once you purchase a console, though I've not been able to test this as I've not got a PS5. I was a bit annoyed that the free dlc content mentioned in the description, the gold case and red nine ammo charm, aren't present in the game 😕But if you look closer it states "Pre Order" the standard edition! So the games been out for a while now so I'm assuming that this promo has ended, either that or I'm missing something? Though I've checked through the menu systems and in game shop etc and everything is 🔒 padlocked 😐I like the fact that there's pre sets for audio & visually impaired people as well as one for people who suffer from motion sickness 😀You can change a lot in the game like the colours of you sights, bio scope backgrounds, subtitles etc. So good amount of customisation even before you start playing. There's also the free Mercenaries game😀As stated in the title the game is quite hard, more so if like me you're not used to the playstation controller 🎮 layout. I suggest you download the free demo version and practice using that to become more familiar with the pad layout and combat etc. I got wiped out within five minutes of entering the village 😩Oh don't run into the tower at the end of the village to avoid the chainsaw dude cut scene as the demo has it rigged 😕He bursts through the gates just up from you instead 😲very sneeky 😉

Great game

So I've played both original and remake and I LOVE this game, honestly one of the best games I've played ever, Ashley Graham is adorable, Luis Serra is charming, Leon is badass as hell. I'd say if you're new to the Resident Evil franchise, this is a good game to start, it does give a brief catchup for those who haven't played RE2, but I recommend buying RE2 before this. In terms of graphics, it's amazing and definitely an upgrade to the original and the RE2 Remake. I like the controls for this game better than RE2, like how Leon runs faster, he doesn't lose the knife when he stabs someone and I just love how the main characters interact with one another, compared to the lonely and limited interactions of RE2 and RE4 original. Compared to the original, Ashley has a better personality, before she was kind of a tsundere but now she's really cute and is helpful, more proactive in her survival. Luis definitely got an upgrade, he speaks more Spanish, he is more charming, flamboyant and charismatic, he is more respected here as a genuine side character rather than a comic relief. His lore has been changed to make more sense and a bigger impact. The Merchant is in this game just like the original, to be honest he is just the same which is a good thing, he's reliable, we love him. To clarify, I have played the remake first then the original so I truly went in this game blind and I highly suggest going in blind, spoiler free too. I'm trying not to give spoilers in this but the game was not that scary, more so thrilling. There is also another extra mode called "The Mercenaries" which is fun, especially when you get to play as your favourite characters.
