Hi can someone tell me how wide the jaws open, in the picture it shows a door being held which looks about 50mm.

Iam not able to measure exactly as I have this in another country in my workshop and no one there at the moment,but so far as remember I was able to install 51mm, 45mm thick door and 6mm MDF (for protection)together for sure.If you consider thicker material there is extra few mm but jaw will leave marks on material if you not put anything for protect surface.https://youtu.be/mxsDbVVzZ84

It can be used separately from any other device. I've 2 and a super jaws and mix and match for the task to be done. I have used one with a saw horse as well. Good tool.

can anyone tell me what is the measurement between any two of the feet it stands on? like to know how much floorspace it needs.

At full stretch the space needed is an equilateral triangle the side of which are 35". This is so the feet are flat on the floor and locked at the max. There is no way of securing the legs unless they are at the max angle hence the 35" between each of the three legs.
