Silverline 128999 900W Biscuit Joiner 900 W UK
Good tool if it is just a bit noisy but it is a 900W tool. I bought if for my wife (yes, she's a woodworker) and with just a bit of guidance, works well....the tool that is! Use the dust extraction bag as you'll need it. Feels quite robust when she lets me use it. Good Tool for 60 quid.

Works fine, will give you high quality joints if you're careful, but awkward to set up
** use the right biscuits! The first thing I discovered was it cuts slots that are too narrow for the Trend biscuits that I had left over from a previous project. I then bought a bag of Silverline biscuits, that actually fit perfectly - and are indeed consistently about 0.12mm narrower according to my micrometer. [Aside: you want a biscuit that slides in with finger pressure, not that has to be forced. Particularly if you're working with MDF, a biscuit that needs to be forced is likely to distort your board as the drying glue expands it].** cutting with the base and the fenceThere are two basic methods for cutting biscuits: using the machine's base by putting the machine on the same level benchtop as the workpiece, or using the fence by sliding the fence on top of the workpiece. For most cheap jointers, the former works better. However, the Silverline worked perfectly with the fence straight out of the box. See the sample biscuit in the attached photo: it's perfectly aligned to the top of the board. And, the fence height gauge is quick and easy to adjust.Working off the base initially gave me a slightly sloping cut. I had to make a small adjustment (see comments on set up below) to the jointer and this then worked fine.** setupIt's annoying to have to adjust a mis-assembled tool and I see that others have had the same experience, although with a different part of the tool. See my other photo. The body is two pieces of steel screwed together and they were misaligned, a bit like the red line I've drawn. I had to remove the fence, remove the screws shown by the arrow, realign the body, and reassemble, before the plastic base sat square.I also found it more complicated than it should be to setup for different size biscuits. The numbers on the depth gauge are in millimetres and there are lots, but in practice, you just want three that are in 2mm steps. Then you can set the deepest of the three for size 20, and then the other two should be correct for sizes 10 and 00. None of this was set up in advance or explained in the manual. So, I adjusted "4" for the size 20, and "2" and "0" now work for size 10 and 00. Aside: set up correctly is where the depth is such that slightly more than half the biscuit goes into the slot (say 1mm past half). All in all, it works fine once you have it set up, which at this price, is pretty good. Recommended for a reasonable amount of straightfoward biscuiting. I've used it happily now for eight bookcases and cupboards, and to joint a few kitchen work surfaces, and it's all gone fine.

Life is so much easier
This jointer has made my work so much easier, rather than using dowel jigs.It offers value for money and after using it for the first time it appears to be a good quality piece of kit.Instructions are a little vague and it takes you a little while to work out how the guide and fence work, but once mastered you will be pleased with this purchase.

Excellent little tool
Blown away by this biscuit jointer. I read the reviews and was a little unsure about quality level cuts being made with this budget tool, but with a few practice cuts to get used to it I was ready to go and it was a perfect every cut! I cut from the base of the machine and from the fence and both were equally as good - just take your time. I'd definitely recommend cutting from the base when you can as it's just much easier. The depth gunge is a bit odd, but I have set it up so the settings 2, 4 and 7 are for biscuits sized 0, 10 and 20 respectively which is all I need. Given I contemplated spending nearly £200 to pick this one for a quarter of the price and have all the same features is ideal. Wish I'd bought one earlier!

Nice tool to have.
Nice tool for the price. Does the job as advertised. Its going to take a bit of time to get used to, as with any new tool. Not sure if I will use this or dowels, but it's nice to have another option.I did use it to stick 2 144mm wide pieces of pine together. The joint was really tight and almost seamless. Not sure if that's the biscuits or the glue and clamping, but it seems like a pretty sturdy joint.

Not as good as expected
After reading the reviews I was expecting something better. It's not as accurate as expected. For me when I plunge to make the cut the device moves a fraction, not much, but enough for me to have to trim the finish.I am sure, someone with better skills would not have the same problem.

Ottimo prodotto prezzo qualita
