Q: Hi, is says the boxed weight is 9g, which is incredibly low for the stated price. Is this correct?

The boxed weight of 9g is incorrect. 29g would be closer. The actual weight is 1oz.

Absolutely, this stuff is magic, even repaired my 5 year old well abused chisel tip that looked like a mangled rolling pin! Well worth it.

Q: Cannot get this to work. In fact tips are coming out blacker than they went in. What am I doing wrong?

Depends on the state of the tip. I would suggest cleaning the tip with fine sand paper (just gently clean and scuff it) then, heat the tip to around 220 degrees Celsius, tin the tip with leaded solder, wipe the tip with a damp sponge, then briefly (1/2 second) touch the tip to the tinner, then wipe on the sponge again. You may need to apply the tinner twice, depending on the tip shape (flat ones seem to work best). My thinking from your explanation is that the tip was too hot when you tried to use the product. Q: Is this for nickel plated or bare copper tips? Will it damage nickel plated tips?

I've been using it with both types and no pitting of the tip has resulted and it tins both very well.
