Q: how is this charged??

Hello The alarm does not have a rechageable battery. It is powered with a PP9 type battery but a PP9 one will not fit!! The connection will not mate up to the terminal posts!! The only way to use the alarm is to find a PP9 connecting wire from an old piece of equipment then after removing the original one solder this one in it's place. I could not find anyone who sold the original battery. Hope this helps. Maurice

May I suggest you ask the seller or manufacturer to identify the forces that they claim prefer the item. Or ring your local nick and ask to speak with their Crime Prevention officers.

Normal 9V battery in both mine. Cheap Chinese one supplied, Duracell should be fine.
