The Puffin Book of Stories for Eight-year-olds

Bought for a car journey with my 8 year old daughter. She quite enjoyed it and asked for it to be put on again several times. I didn't know any of the stories, but they were generally well written and narrated. The first one, Picnic with the Aunts, I found very funny and beautifully written. It's my favourite! Only downside is that the stories tend to be old-fashioned so maybe don't relate to today's youngsters quite the same. My husband's comment was "Couldn't you have got something more modern?". I'll not record my reply!

Son lives this. It OK. Listen at night... Good voice/tone and pace.

I remember having these books as a child, and was pleased to see they're still sold.The books do seem a bit dated now, both in stories and in print. Still good but probably won't buy any more of them.

Nice easy large text, havent read yet but seems value for money

Recieved a different version of the book to what is advertised. Very disappointed as partly why I bought it was very cause of the big 8 on the cover and over all design which i think was more suited to boys that the yellow book i recieved.** Edit i note the picture on the listing has now been updated to the yellow version

My daughter loves these books, I buy them every birthday and have done for years.

My son will be eight in March so got this for then. It looks good, the stories I have glanced at are old fashioned but I am sure he will enjoy reading it. Arrived quickly.
