Does this come with at least one ear probe cover or are they needed to be bought before initial use?

Yes, it comes with a small pack of them. Can't remember how many, but the refill packs have 20 in each & think it was the same pack size with the thermometer. I ordered replacement covers with the purchase anyway as have been using it daily to monitor my recovery from an op. Highly recommend for ease & accuracy. Hope that helps.

Does anyone know if there is a Gaurantee? I purchased one in April 15 and it has just broken which seems a bit soon.
