## Description

From the manufacturer Add two Gigabit Ethernet ports and a USB 3.0 pass-through port to your laptop through a single USB 3.0 port The USB 3.0 to Dual Port Gigabit Ethernet Adapter lets you add two Gigabit Ethernet ports to your laptop or Ultrabook computer through a single USB 3.0 port , and features an integrated USB 3.0 pass-through port that keeps your USB port available for use with external storage or other peripherals. Each RJ45 port supports 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet. This 2-port USB LAN adapter is a versatile solution for connecting to two separate physical networks simultaneously, leveraging the 5 Gbps speed of USB 3.0 to provide dedicated gigabit bandwidth to each port . The dual USB NIC is also ideal for providing dedicated physical network interfaces to virtual machine configurations. Great for IT administrators that require dual-homed or multi-homed host systems. The USB 3.0 NIC supports IPv4/IPv6 packet Checksum Offload Engine (COE) and TCP large send offload to reduce the load on your CPU, as well as Jumbo Frames, full-duplex operation with 802.3x flow control, and VLAN tagging for an efficient and full-featured USB network adapter.

Review: Works fine for link aggregation at full speed - Despite what a previous reviewer stated, this device works just fine for link aggregation at near full speed. Link aggregation works by apportioning traffic to multiple destinations to different ports of the aggregated link based on a hash of the destination MAC and IP addresses, so traffic to two destinations could each use a different port and get the full speed of that port. It provides no throughput benefit for a single destination host. To properly test throughput over all ports of the aggregated link, you need to send traffic to two or more destination addresses at the same time. I ran such a test using iperf3 to two destinations with consecutive IP addresses (10.0.1.90, 10.0.1.91), but it still used only one port according to traffic counters on my switch, resulting in only about 460Mbps throughput to each host. When I changed the destination host's address from .91 to .92, this resulted in test traffic going via separate ports and I got close to full speed through both ports simultaneously: 110 MB/sec or 920Mbits/sec. Link aggregation was working as expected. The USB3 gigabit chips used in this adapter are ASIX AX88179, which are well supported by Linux. Whether using link aggregation or not, this is a useful adapter to have.
Review: Dual Gigabit connections that work together. - Five Stars! Connected immediately within Windows 8.1. For those who are interested, the adapter does allow paired connections, and the performance is very good. Test setup: Laptop with the USB3 adapter connected via a Netgear gigabit switch to Windows 8.1 PC with dual Intel NICs, each computer using two network cables. After pre-copying a large (10GB) file so that it was cached into memory on the laptop; copying to the PC via the dual link achieved sustained 186MB/s (copy dialog) with balanced loads of 80% utilization (task manager) for each of the two Ethernet circuits. Using a single Ethernet cable gigabit saturation (98%+) was easily achieved. Other scenarios would get different results.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Will this device support Link Aggregation (LACP)?**
A: I am going to answer this three year old question, in case anyone else has it.

The short answer is no. This adapter does not support LACP, or link aggregation. The ability to "turn on" LACP is done at the os level, but the hardware still needs to support 802.3ad. This one does not have that hardware ability. I tried, and only later found it did not support it.

**Q: Will this work on an Android Tablet with one micro usb port?**
A: Yes but you'll be limited to 1.0 speed

**Q: Does it support Proxmox out of the box?**
A: Yes

**Q: can i use this to plug in desktop and use 2nd ethernet port for ps4 console alongside pc ethernet ports?**
A: That would take some time to configure. This is just a nic and that would require you to setup routing on your pc to route between the PS and your network through your pc.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very useful for road warriors needing Ethernet adaptor
*by J***O on 25 May 2026*

Works very well as two gigabit NICs over USB3, the passthru USB port means that for my Surface Pro 4 with a single USB port, I'm not losing a port with this plugged in. It's very expensive but I bought mine used for less than half the new price.
